It's great... When it works...

It's very convenient when it actually works, but generally it has about 50/50 chance of working with the phone in my hand directly in front of the door. It will almost never work if you have it in a pocket - especially rear pockets. I'm always excited to see an update get released in hopes that it gets better, but as of yet it no luck...
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this over a year ago. Love the new feature of locking remotely from another room! The convenience of returning home with arms full and the ease of one touch unlocking! Well worth the investment.

Great when it works

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had the Kevo for 2 years and had it warranty swapped twice so I can say the issues are across the board and not a bad unit. When it works its great to not have to take your keys out. But about half the time you need to tap it multiple times to get it to lock or unlock and on occasion I've needed to use an actual key to get it. Wish it was more consistent.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Has such potential! But poor execution

I bought this lock immediately once I had the chance to purchase it as I was eager to employ the same keyless entry to my house as I had for my car. Unfortunately, the execution is wholly lackluster. When it works, it's perfect. However, it frequently takes more than one tap on the lock to open and that's IF it opens. I frequently find myself having to bring the app to the foreground on my iPhone 6 just to get the lock to work, even though I never close the app on my phone

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had a Kevo installed for about a year now, and it is by far the best electronic deadbolt I have owned yet. I also like its features better than any of the competing Bluetooth locks currently on the market. Especially since adding the Bluetooth gateway to give full control of the lock remotely.
Things I like:
- No need for a key unless my phone is not with me (rare!)
- Can grant/revoke access to others
- With gateway, can simply unlock the door for someone remotely
- With gateway, can lock the door remotely if someone forgets
- Can view history of who has locked/unlocked door and when

I'd give it 5 stars, but there are a few things which feel like a first generation product, that I suspect can't be solved by firmware upgrades. Chief among them:
- Lock (as opposed to unlock) is too sensitive and can engage accidentally while exiting. I'd like to see a future generation use a magnetic reed or other sensor to only allow the lock motion to engage while the door is shut.
- Unlock reaction time is not consistent, though has gotten better with firmware upgrades. But unlike my cars, it is not instant. I suspect this is at least partly due to power conservation for the sake of the batteries -- cars have much more battery capacity available plus get recharged all the time.
- Remote access has a few times not worked after a phone restart until it has been done locally again first.
- Not available in a double deadbolt configuration, such as is preferred in locations where there is glass in or near the door to avoid breaking the glass and turning the inside release.

I love my Kevo Lock!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used the Kevo lock for over a year and absolutely love it! I had some minor technical issues for a couple days and having to use my key was surprisingly annoying, since it generally works so well. I love just being able to touch the lock, being able to provision ekeys easily, and the bluetooth gateway let's me check if I locked the door remotely or open it for someone if needed!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Sturdy lock, but opens after 4 or 5 tries!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since purchasing the WiFi hub and upgraded my phone app, the locking/unlocking procedure is frustrating. Most of the time it flashes red after touching and trying to work. This can take several "touches". I get the phone out of my pocket, open the app, hold the phone much closer than when training the lock and it will open. I have retrained the lock, pulled batteries, reset the lock - the problem isn't fixed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
