Worse choice of lock

As soon as I turn to return to my car I hear the lock unlock it is not reliable at all, try several times to solve the problem with kevo but did not result in anything
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Awesome Product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had my kevo for just over 2 years now. Only issue I have had was with the effect of cold weather on the electronics for the lock in the Gen 1 model. However, they resolved this in the gen 2 model.
I was also an early adopter of Kevo Plus. and I would say this is an extream plus as it helped me out when my wife an 2yr old son accidently locked them selves outside in the snow while I was on a buisness trip across the country. My wife was able to alert me via our Ring doorbell and I was able to remotely unlock the door for them.
as for the initial install it was simple, installs the same as anyother deadbolt lock with the exception of a wire connecting the front and rear of the lock. if needed they provide guided videos of the install on the webpage.
best feature would have to be the configurable eKeys. I can create temp guest keys for friends and familey visiting our home or in one case a temp key for a co-worker who I provided a key to check on my home while I was traveling.

-Only works on very limited number of devices.
-Doesn't allow you to remotely open the door through WiFi unless you buy the extended product (PRO) which is only for sale in US & Canada and they don't ship internationally (for no apparent reason).
-The FOB stopped working pretty quickly.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this deadbolt installed for over a year & it's a decent lock. The ability to lock & unlock the deadbolt using a BT phone or tablet is quite convenient, but having to purchase yet another hub device for my home just to control this lock while I'm away is not something I'm willing to do. It's more likely that I'll purchase from another manufacturer to gain true smartlock functionality next go-round.

Solid entry to smart locks. Some caveats though

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using my Kevo for roughly 2 years. The lock gets long ours of direct sun and is still holding up which is great. It doesn't always recognize my phone on the first try but will work eventually with a little adjustment of the position of the phone relative to the lock. You will learn what is the best position pretty quick but it can add a little time to the unlocking process and I do wonder from time to time if it truly saves me time from pulling out the time tested, trusty keys. I think its a good, solid product overall and I am looking forward to the next generation to test.

Battery life is pretty good, 6+ months per set of batteries

Check the phone compability list. Your phone may not be supported if you dont have an semi recent Apple or Samsung. It took me months before they supported the Nexus 6p and they did not communicate any plans to support the phone. I just had to check back monthly until it finally allowed me to install it.

The keyfob option is pretty unreliable. We have two and have to swing them around alot to get them to register. (its motion activated)
You may have to try several times with the phone in different positions to get the lock to register
The sensitivity of the lock is pretty high so if you brush it lightly with your arm on the way out it could lock/unlock before the door closes.
The lights are very visible but if you live on a loud street you wont be able to hear the audio cues from outside.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great when it works

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For me, Kēvo works about 60% of the time. Very frustrating. It works almost 100% of the time for my wife and daughter. I think more development and reliability is needed before I would recommend this.
