Love this lock

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When the lock was first installed, I had no problems, but as time went on, my lock would auto-lock almost every time people went outside. It turns out, we all place our hands close to the deadbolt to closed door behind us, and often lightly brush against it. Easy enough, make a consious effort to keep hands away from lock. After a while we noticed that even when we didnt have our phones on us, this was happening. What??? It is supposed to not work if the bluetooth device is in the house.
Well, then we discovered that if anyone was home, any person on the outside if the house could unlock the door too. Now I was really concerned, so I experimented and discovered that the free keyfob was stored in the house about 20ft away from the door. As an experiment, I put that keyfob in my bedroom, and reset the lock. This time, to get it on the right track if learning what is outside, I took my phone woth me outside, closed the door and locked/unlocked the door about a dozen times. When this was complete, I left mu phone in the house, went outside, and the door would not lock/unlock.
Lesson learned: NEVER store your keyfob range of the lock. While the lock is learning, this screws up the lock's accuracy, and can make it where the lock thinks indoors in outdoors.
My lock now runs near flawlessly.
I am looking forward to getting a few more Gen 2 models for my other doors.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] With a fresh battery it works about 75% of the time, but the battery in the fob only seems to last a couple of months at best. Sometimes it fails, I dig out my key and unlock the door manually, and the contact of the key actuates the lock and re-locks the door before I can get in. This is particularly annoying because it din't work initially, and I had to use the key. It also seems to be less reliable in very cold weather. Overall, I spend a lot of time fumbling for my keys in the rain

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I personally love this product. It works best with iPhones my husband has a Samsung and he has some trouble getting it to work. For the majority of the time it works great there have been a couple times where I had to tap it a second time or have the app open in order for the lock to work. There has been a couple times where it had a mind of its own and locked or unlocked when it wasn't told to. I love when I'm carrying kids and bags that I can just touch it and unlock the door and it's convenient for me to check the app to see if I remembered to lock the door. I also love how I can send ekeys to people instead of leaving a spare around the house for anyone to find. So yes it does have some faults/ glitches sometimes but what tech doesn't. And overall it is an amazing product and I look forward to buying more for my house.

Kevo 2nd gen review
on January 6, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ordered 2 Kevo 2nd gen locks for our new doors. From reading reviews about the 1st gen ones, the 2nd gen responds a lot faster. It does still have hiccups specially with glass doors. For those, you really have to go through the manual calibration process. This involves removing the cover and pressing the calibration button inside, then standing outside with your phone or fob at arms distance while touching the lock to trigger it.
Another tip I've learned for winter, with gloves on, you can touch the lock while exhaling on it at the same time can trigger it as well. Very useful. I used to use my nose but then the temps drop well below freezing, I had to find a better way. Hahaha.
The app is a bit slow to respond directly. It takes forever to connect to the lock if you're trying to control it directly from the app vs the touch to lock/unlock. Android support is quite slow as well.
A key fob is no longer included free with the 2nd gen which is a shame, they could've at least included 4 e-keys. Only 2 come free with the 2nd gen Kevo.
Kevo plus at $99 is too expensive for what it can do. $50 would be more reasonable specially considering the cost of the lock.
Despite a few glitches, I'm still very happy with the lock. It is on the expensive side but so far, it has been worth it if you're looking to upgrade to a fancy smart lock.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A little slow response when used with Kevo Plus and remotely locked or unlocked.
And it would be great if there was a model which could be used on a gate with the touch lock on both sides

Not enough features for price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works great some times. Doesn't work most of the time. About 1 out of 10 tries it will lock with one touch the first time. Typically I have to spend 30 seconds or more trying to lock my door. Not very convenient. I tried all the steps to optimize performance but nothing helps. I purchased this to make security quicker and easier, but most of the time I come home and Door is unlocked because not everyone is as patient as I am trying to make this work.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a fantastic lock. I bought this lock so I don't have to Fumble for keys while carrying in a handfull of groceries along will all my kids stuff she had decided to bring with her that day! I also had invested in the Kevo Plus which allows other in by the press of a key from my smartphone, great for when you forgot something at home and you can send someone who is close to pick up.
