Great idea, but unreliable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I installed two of these, one on the front door, one on the back door, and bought the kevo plus system so I could control it remotely. When it works, it's great. The problem is that most of the time it doesn't work. Very rarely can I just walk up to the door with my phone in my pocket and touch the bezel to unlock. At best, I have to take the phone out, open the Kevo app, and open the lock with the app. The amount of time this takes its faster to just hit the keypad on my garage door and go in that way. This makes the whole installation pretty much useless. I wish this worked reliably so that I could recommend it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this lock in sept of 2016 from home depot. Had to return the original as it turned out to be a previous return lovk that was previously opened and bits were missing. Second lock was sealed new. Lock was quik and easy to install and easy to set up. Never had an issue with lock jam. Every once while it does not want to vonnect with the phone but this issue is far and few and usually corrects itself promptly after the second touch.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good bt lock - can be great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a Kevo 2 lock for 9 months now. It's a good lock but can be great with a few changes (see below)
- Installation: Not as simple as it seems but not difficult. Took about 30 minutes. Had an issue with the screw but contacted support and support provided a new set of screws quickly. Support was awesome. Love the ability to "re-key" so I use can my existing keys.
- Usage: Deadbolts lock very smooth from the inside. Able to use my phone to lock from the outside with no issues. Set up on grandma's iPhone and now she loves the keyless entry. Love that it's no unlimited virtual keys.
- Improvement opportunities (to make this a great lock) 1. faster response time from the iOS app. Sometimes have to wait while the iPhone connects to the lock 2. Better fit - my lock fit isn't perfect. My kevo 1 fit was perfect.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Plastic Internals

Bought two and had a locksmith install them - only to be told that he doesn't rate them at all because when you take them apart, there's a week plastic link which is the only thing preventing it from being secure. He also mentioned that it's not rated (in Australia at least) for an external door lock (so when your insurance asks if you have deadlocks to all doors, you have to say no).

Never opens with a touch - have to use the app!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this thinking it would be a lifesaver with a 2-year old as well as newborn (meaning my hands are always full when trying to get in the door), and the tap-to-unlock functionality would save us from fumbling for keys without a free hand, as well as losing keys, getting locked out, etc. Unfortunately, the lock almost NEVER opens when just using the app with bluetooth. The only way I can get it to work is to open the app and manually tap the button. This doesn't save any time, and is a big hassle. So much for convenience!

It does not meet merchantability criteria. The touch feature does not work and have reported this several times to Kevo.

I have had my Kevo for over a year and it has been flawless. It's great that they expanded the number of keys. Great when you have someone caring for your animals while you are gone.

went to Arizona for the winter gave my son access to the house to check on it nad water plants.. plants died, basement flooded because he could not ge3t into the house
