What's great about it: protects the ipad
What's not so great: way too heavy
Worked fine for a couple weeks. Then when you pressed a key, it would repeat to infinity. Item was still under warranty so best buy replaced it. Soon after my arm began to hurt after toting the capsule around all day. While it offers great protection for the ipad, its too heavy.

RF-iCAP12 Advanced Series iCapsule
Bought this in Jan of 2012 and broke it two months later. They have a very poor charging design. If you are charging the keyboard and accidentally open it, it is broke for good. AFTER you open it there is a small yellow warning tag that says to disconnect charging cable before opening or closing. That warning is a little too late! I took it back to Best Buy and they would not help me. So I went home and tore it apart -- what did I have to lose? There is a small control board that could be easily replaced. Called Rocketfish to order the replacement piece -- of course they don't have that part.....so I do not recommend this poorly designed product. They could have placed the charging port on the side of the capsule.....I was honest about opening the case. I have read other reviews where they got a replacement because it broke and it broke again. Well, they opened the case. It is a simple mistake to make. The only recourse I have is to save someone from buying this product!!

What's great about it: The convenience of having a keyboard to type.
What's not so great: It doesn't shut off all the time when you close it. This causes my IPAD battery to run down.
Nice product when it works right. It's a problem when the battery is ran down.

What's great about it: Works great for direct use of software on you iPad
What's not so great: Remote access to computers doesn't pass through key strokes
I bought the keyboard to use with third party software such as GoToMyPC or PCAnywhere to remotely access my office computer. It didn't work. It wouldn't pass through the keystrokes to my remote computer. I returned the product.

What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: heavy, and cheap quality for such an expensive piece
Ok so withing 24hrs of buying this product went home and first thing off the bat there is no camera hole to take pictures, and when i went to go charge it i plug it in with the provided cable and the actual whole plug goes right in.. it broke off in the case and was now free-floating where you could hear it banging inside. I was so angry I had to go back to best buy the next day to return it and i wound up exchanging for a different one all together because I didnt want to chance it breaking again.

What's great about it: Great stand, sturdy design.
What's not so great: Price, keyboard reliability iffy.
A $100 may or not be "pricey" depending on your perspective. I think the iPad is overpriced. But, if you want to protect your investment, this sturdy case should do the trick for every day bumps, or a drop on a arug (not too sure about something harder). Solidly made. Out of the box, the Pad paired seamlessly with the Pad. The on/off button works well, and the Pad wakes up very quickly after opening the top.
I ended up with this case only because it was the only case left that had a keyboard as well. The chicklet keys are comfortable if you're used to typing on a netbook, as I am. The Pad sits firmly into the top of the case; no wiggling around, once it's in. The hot keys work well, but there doesn't seem to be a DEL key. The key response is quick, no lag at all. One little problem-the "a" key keeps repeating, sometimes well after the key has been struck. If this continues for another week, it may be enough for me to return the unit.
I like that it has "lap mode" and it's very comfortable in that position, when you don't need the KB. If you want to attach headphones, you have to remove a rubber plug that's not tethered to the frame, the same way the dock cover is tethered, which may mean you may lose the plug to misplacement, a mischivous pet, or young child, or if you're plain absent minded. Design flaw, in my opinion.
I haven't had any problems with the usb charging port, as some other reviewers have stated. It's not clear to me when the case is charged; that could be my mistake in not reading the instructions?
I've seen an earlier model on youtube that had a handle. This one doesn't have one, and that's a mystery to me. I've gone to the website, and it says that particular model is discontinued. MAJOR design flaw, but if you like things more compact, you may not mind. I personally don't see taking my Pad out too often, but I would have liked the option of having a carry handle. I looked at the possibility of a seperate hard shell case, and a seperate bluetooth keyboard, but that would cost more, and I wouldn't have the convenience of a built in keyboard.
I'm giving this 3.5 stars, rounded down to 3 because of the repeating A key, lack of a handle, and the untethered headphone "plug." Overall, I like the case, but have to decide whether I can live with the repeating "A" key. I wouldn't recommend this to a friend, as many people wouldn't want to live with a somewhat dysfunctional keyboard. I haven't had the opportunity to look at different hard shell cases, but will, before my return time expires. If the case cost $50, I could live with it; for $100, I'm not so sure.

What's great about it: Audio reverberation back to the user. SMART cover implementation.
What's not so great: Unfastened power adapter means single point of failure. Keys fall off.
The idea is sound... implant the iPad 2 into a capsule and tug it around like a laptop. It's great for notes and other productivity solutions for on the go computing. I especially like how there are cut-aways for the audio to reverberate back to the user's ears... I never understood why Apple decided to put the speaker on the BACK of the device. Great solution for watching movies, listening to audio, and playing games.
Unfortunately, that's the only good thing about this device. I went through two in a single day. The first one was quite simply pathetic. I plugged it into the computer to charge the keyboard, unplugged it, and the internal connector came out with the cable. A $100 case that is now inoperable due to the inability to charge the keyboard.
The second one was just as bad. This time I decided to charge the keyboard first, only to make sure there wasn't further disapointment. Unfortunately, the "Y" key fell right out of the enclosure as soon as I opened it. I couldn't believe the lack of craftsmanship on such a great idea. If this product had some decent quality behind it, I might have left a better review. This is not the case, however.

This keyboard/case is ok for occasional use at a desk or table, but not comfortable for lap use. I wanted to buy the unit with a handle, but was told it was discontinued and another shopper got the last display unit....come to find out I could have bought a unit with a handle online...disappointed to find out I was misled. The handle unit would have been more versatile...but I already spent $100 that I can't get back, so I'm feeling stuck.

What's great about it: Sleek keyboard, easy set up and long keyboard life
What's not so great: A little heavy, too pricey and the 2nd position of the screen should be flat w keyboard concealed, not slant
I received this as a gift because I wanted the perfect case. Well I got more than I expected. This case not only protects my ipad but literally turned it into a laptop. I'm not comfortable with the onscreen keyboard on the ipad so this puts me in my comfort zone. the keyboard virtually controls everything on the ipad w the exception of choosing the app you want to go into; you have to touch the screen for that or you can use the search key and type it in.

Overall it is great. However its very important to know that there is a warning label about opening the case while charged. With that said, you don't find out until you open the case...And there are a lot of low ratings because the charging port breaks.
The good
- I like the keyboard, it's perfect and doesn't skimp on keys.
- Really solid build
The bad
- It's heavy
- It only allows one viewing angle, would be nice if i would tilt it back further. Or if it could go vertical.
- Price

What's great about it: Price and function
What's not so great: Smart cover tech isn't reliable for waking device.
There are several advantages to this product that I've found. The first is that it's fairly solid. It completely encases the iPad and along with the iPad's own sturdiness then it fairly well protects it against most wear and tear on the go. I've used it extensively at school and am very satisfied with it. However, I need to point out that it isn't water proof or water resistant, so, that means that I recommend sticking with the iPad's normal water rules -of-engagement. In other words, treat it like a regular laptop and try to avoid prolonged exposure to water.
The second is that it adds productivity to the iPad, which as soon as I saw devices like this I saw what could be the future of computing. With this keyboard/case combo it becomes most of the functionality to what Laptops were designed to be in a smaller more convenient package.
The case is nice because you can prop it up for a conventional laptop typing experience or you can fold it down for lap viewing. There are easy access ports for the docking cable as well as for headphone jacks. The case itself also works with the smart cover tech that iPad 2's have, which means that you close the cover and it's put into sleep mode. The reverse is built into it as well, which means you open the cover and you're either fully on or being asked for a password. This function didn't usually work for some reason but not truly bothersome.
The one glitch I've found so far goes along with the smart cover waking. Typically, I'd have to manually sync the keyboard to the iPad to get any kind of waking functionality. About a quarter of the time I'd have to completely re-sync the keyboard to the bluetooth in the iPad. This is no more than a minor annoyance since other than that it works pretty much every time.
I haven't so far tested how long the battery will last between chargings under usage because it has never failed me in operation between charges.
I also like how it looks much like a small laptop, which is good in that it is harder to misplace and less obvious to be stolen at the same time.
I highly recommend it but I didn't give it 5 stars only because of the fact that the smart cover functionality was not that reliable, which is more a minor inconvenience than an annoyance. For the price, this really can't be beat.

What's great about it: Features of the keyboard functions
What's not so great: A little top heavy, so the weight balance is a little off.
My wife and I have been using this keyboard case for about 2 months now. The only hiccup we had was pressing the two keys that make the bluetooth connection think you want to pair another device, so it wouldn't work on the Ipad. Everything else has been a breeze. The keyboard is a little small, but I can still type like crazy. It takes a while to get used to intergrating the keyboard and touch screen functions. There are some really cool functions. I like the on/off button as well as the copy/paste features. All and all, a very good product. Just be careful, it can be a little top heavy while opening.
