OK Printer for Limited Purposes

I bought this to use mostly as a home office all-in-one. It has two major drawbacks for that use: 1) in order to print a letter, you have to remove the tray, insert letterhead, print the letter, remove the tray, insert the envelope, print the envelope, remove the tray, insert normal print paper. Other all-in-ones have allowed me to print on letterhead and envelopes without removing the tray. 2) I recycle paper, meaning I save paper that's been printed on to print on the other side for draft or within-office uses. This printer absolutely cannot handle once-used paper, WAY more than previous and current printers I own. Also, my impression is that I am going through ink at a scary rate, although part of that may be that it is only available in rather small packages. Still, the cost of ink per page printed seems really, really high.
On the plus side, I tried printing a photo on photo paper and it looked really nice.
So I would say that if you want a photo printer and use the other features sparingly, this is a good printer. For a home office, it isn't great.

Love the duplex printing as well as the photo and disc printing. Don't really need the fax stuff, but the copy and scan functions very handy.

I have had the printer for 3 months and very happy with it. It was easy to set up wirelessly and so far no issues with printing, copy and scanning.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good Printer, minor drawbacks

My primary use for this device is for scanning. Previously I owned a Brother 420CN mfc and this is *much* faster so I really like it. Using it as a printer, I like the ability to do duplex printing. Compared to the 420, though, this device has more frequent paper jams, possibly because of the ability to do duplex. Also, I could check the paper supply on the 420 without taking the tray out of the printer. On the 835, I must remove the tray to check the paper, a minor inconvenience. The touch screen is nice and easy to use. All in all, I like this printer and would buy it again.

Printer experience good

This purchase has performed well so far. My wife spent 3 to 4 hours setting it up and she is excellent when following instructions and of course has immense patience. This is probably the biggest negative. I would also like an easy way to turn colors on and off.
I just used the fax feature and it was just too simple even for me.
We have blown through our first black ink cartridge and wished the machine had a counter so we could confirm actual usage from a cartridge. Only one jam so far on the printer with the original black cartridge.
Print quality is high, very sharp and fits our non business needs. Have test printed one picture and was blown away by quality.
The wireless feature works well and machine noise is pretty low while speed is quite good
We like machines that work and are hassle free.

We bought this product based on all reviews we could read. Did not like what we were reading on HP, Lexmark or Kodak printers so on line reviews were crucial to the buy decision.

Great All-In-One

Very easy to set-up and start using. Easy to use any mode (copy, print, fax or scan) and it has many options for each without becoming confusing. The wireless connection was very easy and well explained- it felt like I hardly did anything (and I'm not very good with technology). This was an excellent purchase- I will look at Brother products if i'm in need of another computer product.

Great Printer

Excellent printer in all categories. Only two small complaints: 1) I have to remove the paper tray to change paper (e.g., from paper to checks or greeting card) instead of being able to just slide it in; 2) and related to the first, I have to remove the paper tray to push the lever that changes to photo paper holder in the tray.

Another greeat Brother product

I have this printer next to my desktop. I scan to email quite a bit and this scanner does an excelent job. It copies and prints well also. I have not tried the cd printer, but if it works like everything else it should be fine. I gave this 5 stars because I like it so much. The only drawback is the paper capacity. The paper capacity is overlooked because the machine works so well.
