I had previously had a Brother MFC for seven years. It was dependable and easy to use, and I was famiiliar with how it worked. When it came time for a new replacement, I only really wanted a scan-printer-copier-fax that was simple to use, and would be reliable, and not make me feel like I needed a semester long course in order to be proficient user. This product has filled that requirement.

Great Printer, Bad Software and Installation Setup

This is an excellent printer but the software is not up to date. Brother needs to get with it and make their products Windows 8 compatible. It is also very hard to get the wireless feature working. It is a long and complicated process that usually dose nt work. I have had to keep an ethernet cable hooked up at all times. Brother says its better this way. I guess if you like running wires all over your house better so be it. This is really an excuse for poorly written software. This printer prints excellent photos and does not use too much ink either. It is a plus to have individual color ink. It is relatively fast for occasional printing. It would be helpful if the printer had its own email address. This would make it easier to print from an external device. The iprint and iscan does work wel from printing from a tablet. I would give the printer 5 start but software and installation 2 stars.

I like the ease of the product as well as the wireless connection. The print quality is excellent. I had a previous Brother Printer which had 2 paper trays. Since I do a lot of envelopes it would be nice to have a second tray rather than change the paper in one tray. My only other frustration is that it goes through ink too quickly

Great little multifunction printer

Works like a charm. Easy install. Scanning software was a download only. Really wanted a network printer with an ethernet, just a theory but I think it works faster. Sure enough, the install for the ethernet version was about 3 bullets, while the true wireless version was about 3 pages. (as it would with any other wireless printer). For some reason the scanning software was not on the disk, but was available as a download after registering. Great paper storage inside printer, and the dual printing is a plus. Quality of print is great. Printed a web page and it looked like a high quality off the press. Plus, the printer puts itself to sleep after use, which is why I think my old one died after 6 years. All around great buy. Never used a brother product before but I would definitely recommend this printer for home use.
