Doesn't live up to reviews

I bought this 5 months ago. Stainless finish scratches with the slightest touch of any object, especially the grates. It now has nicks and dents. The two small back burners....don't heat up well and take forever to cook on. The two front "super" burners run only on HOT, trying to lower the temperature is impossible, not until I get to Medium, does the gas show any change. If I knew now all these problems, I would have never bought the Range....YUCK!

I purchased the oven as an upgrade. Love the double oven feature. I wish the top oven had an indicator when the temp has reached the desired setting.

Bought 10 months ago, it cooked very unevenly, the light kept going in and out, but GE has sent someone out to fix those issures. Still though, the temperature gauge seems cannot be accurate- if I change the temperature at all, it tells me that the temperature in the oven is drastically different that what it said it was a few suconds earlier (like 25+ degrees). I wonder if I got a lemon- seems like everyone else liked this product!

I previously owned the GE Profile electric ceramic top and I so loved this oven. My new home has gas. I love to cook and since it’s just me and my husband, purchasing a professional oven is just overkill. I will be hosting a 20 person family holiday once a year, so that had to be taken into account. I wanted to stay with a standard fitting to save construction costs. This stove seem the likely choice. There are assets and deficits with any appliance, and I will review all that I see.
TOP OVEN; I use like a professional salamander oven. It may take a little longer to heat up 20 mins, but it reaches high temperatures. I use it for cooking steaks, chops and casserole dishes. It cooks fast. It’s really NOT meant for baking delicate items. But if you want it to be more functional, I use a pizza stone (Pampered Chef rectangular size) direct on rack then put the items directly on it, to promote even heating. It worked so well that I placed it directly on the bottom of the oven, being careful not to cover the vents. What a difference, no scorching. I sear the meat on top of the stove, and finish in the oven. I use an external probe. GE, you should put an additional probe in the top oven. I don’t bake often, so in three months, I only used the bottom oven 5 times. It does heat up faster.
TOP BURNERS; the middle burner does not get hot enough. I would rather sacrifice some BTU from one of the two power boilers to up the BTU. Using their Cast Iron pan provided is great for pancakes, to be honest, the best I ever made. But I can’t live on pancakes alone. It’s not good for grilling at all. Even if you use a different grill pan, it’s not close enough to the flame to get a good burn going. It won’t bring roasting pan juices to a boil to brown a rue. It’s a waste. For the Holidays, I will put the pan in and use it as a warming area. Tip; use veg shortening only to keep the pan seasoned. Scrub with Kosher salt or Lodge puts out plastic scrapers, they work so well.
CLEANING; Stainless Steel is beautiful but hard to keep. Barkeepers Friend is great for tough stains and discolored spots. Daily cleaning I use pure vinegar and a few drop of dish soap in a spray bottle along with a Microfiber Towel. Every two weeks I use stainless steel spray cleaner. DO NOT EVER SPRAY NEAR THE KEYPAD. Spray your towel then clean. I have a feeling that is why all those error codes are being reported, just a guess. I made homemade hot chocolate and it boiled over. What a mess, it harden on the cast iron top of the burner and stained the rim of the burner. I tried everything, and I’m good at this stuff. The only thing that worked was a flat razor scrapper to clean ONLY the top portion of the cast iron burner, then followed up with a Mr. Clean cleaning sponge. It took a little time with the sponge, but it worked for the cast iron and the aluminum rim. There is still a little residue on the rim, but PEOPLE this is a stove. It won’t remain perfect. The sponge also works inside the oven on the glass for quick clean ups.
SCRATCHES; I don’t recommend this to anyone, but I am fine with it. I use a VERY VERY MILD nail file that has four side stages and is really is meant for buffing. I buff out the scratch so it’s not so noticeable. GE, the configuration of the grates and the flat front promotes scratches, you need to use the Profile slant and enamel coat the grates to reduce the scratches.
THE GAP at the back WALL; Heads Up, the electrical socket/outlet needs to be in a special place for it to be flush against the wall. Ask the Store to provide you with the specks before delivery to be sure yours is in the correct position or to give you a chance to call an electrician. Trust me, it’s the outlet position. It happened to me.

MAJOR DESIGN FLAW. GE please look into this.

The top part around the burners is the same thin stainless steel as the front. So the slightest rub from the grates or anything WILL scratch it up immediately. This happened really easily at the store. When we went to lift the grates, the corner dragged so slightly on the surface and it scratched it all up. The top was full of scratches so it's obvious this has been done numerous times.
Another problem with this is if you have a tough stain and need to really scrub it out, you can't use the courser side of a sponge cause that will turn into a big scratched up mess.
This top piece should be made out of that shiny black surface most other stoves are made out of which never get scratched.
I'm only bringing this up because I REALLY hope someone at GE notices this post and fixes this issue...or at least come up with a solution. Maybe even a thin stainless steel looking mat that can fit over the top. Please contact me if there is a solution.

Wonderful flexibility!

With the double ovens, powerful burners and handy, removable griddle, we're loving the Cafe Series range we purchased. Combined with the Cafe Series microwave/convection oven we purchased, we can prepare multiple foods at once quickly and easily, so we're looking forward to cooking for the holidays with friends and family. It's usually a headache trying to time everything out with only one oven, but now we're ready. I'd definitely recommend this range to anyone!
