Have purchased 4 ignitors in 6 months.....

The bottom oven continues to blow out ignitors and after spending hundreds and hundreds on technicians and ignitors we are considering throwing it in the dump and buying a new range. Very disappointing that such an expensive range has turned out to be a dud.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

beware - depth dimensions on GE website wrong
on November 17, 2012

The depth dimension on the website and in the quick facts link showing 26-7/8" are wrong. The depth dimension of 29-1/4" in the installation instructions is correct.
Unfortunately a 29-1/4" deep unit will not fit in my house so it must be packed up and sent back.

There's something magical about this oven
on September 20, 2012

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this oven because it was the only gas, dual oven, range we could find. I was apprehensive about the cost and rightly so but that comes with the Cafe name I think. We've had this for 7 months and we love it. We had to do a little calibrating of the upper over temp control knob - I wish they made the upper oven operat using the digital controls. But it works great and cooks wonderfully. But, back to my magical comment... People love it. They come over and just stare at it and tell us how beautiful it is. We've even caught ourselves doing the same. It just looks great. It makes my modest kitchen look like a pro's workshop. Paired with the matching microwave, it makes our entire kitchen look great. So besides the analog control knob for the upper oven, the only other complaint is the incredibly awful smell that lasts a bit too long during the burn in first use. Wow, I thought we left plastic or something in the oven. Gave me a two day headache. Open the windows and leave the house before proceeding. Grab the pet while your at it.

Why the bad griddle design?
on March 25, 2012

This is an excellent range for the price. I chose it because of the two ovens. I want to get rid of my toaster oven (which takes up counter space in my small kistchen and is also very energy inefficient). But the griddle is so obviously poorly designed -- so far, that is my principal disappointment. Eliminate the grooves down the side. We are not a pancacke eating household, so will use the griddle only for other cooking. We would cook scrambled eggs daily on the griddle, except that they dribble down into the side channels. What a mess to clean up. Higher-end ranges have griddles with only the front and/or rear reservoir for grease, etc.--no need for these side channels! Change it up, GE.
I have also had trouble with the oven. I will buy a thermometer and test it--so far, my recipes take significantly longer at called-for temps than in my old range. Cookies that are supposed to cook in 10-12 minutes take almost twice that long. Even when I use convection, the times are too long. Weird.

Great looking appliance, however plastic brackets around the control knobs melt and crinkle with normal use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] finally made a decision to purchase a new range and converted to gas. Love the design and sleek look. Although I do not think the burners or oven get up to temperature quick enough, it is a beauty. Glad I made the purchase
