Met My Expectations for a Great Gas Stove!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ran across information regarding this gas range over a year ago. Based upon its features and the rebates, I ordered it sight unseen for a kitchen remodel about 6 months down the road. The stove had met almost every expectations, I still need to fine tune the flame on the burners. Gone through the holidays dinners with no problems and the results from both oven were outstanding! The versatility of having two functioning ovens and the availability of high heat on the burners makes cooking on this range a winner. Have unequivocally recommended this model to friends who are interested in getting a new stove for their kitchen.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did a lot of research before purchasing this range and I love it. It was a bit more than I planned on spending; but when it came down to it, worth every penny. First off, it is beautiful! I love the 5 burners and griddle. It is the easiest stove top to clean that I have ever used. I no longer worry about spills because cleanup is a breeze. Having two ovens is beyond wonderful. For most everyday heating/warming I use the top oven. There have been times when both ovens were working at different temps and filled with a variety of dishes and my kitchen never got too hot. The location of the control panel & knobs are great. I do wish the control panel was backlit though. I highly recommend this range!

Very poor using LP gas

The range is advertised as being able to be converted to LP gas but that, seemingly, is not the case. Yes, the LP orifice kit does come with the range, but no, the range doesn't work properly on LP gas.<br>
To begin with, the small non-convection oven does not heat evenly but has "hot spots". In cooking a pizza, for example, one side will be burnt and the other fairly raw. I scheduled a service call which improved the uneven heating somewhat, but didn't fix it. The explanation was that the range was designed for natural gas, not LP, and the required difference in gas pressure (4" of water for NG; 11" of water for LP) was at the root of the problem - A design problem they couldn't fix.<br>
This same problem appears with the burners, as there is virtually no difference in the flame/temperature in the range from "Super Boil" through medium. Only after you set it below medium can you get any flame and/or temperature adjustment. Also, you can forget about simmering anything less than about 1/2 gallon on any of the burners other than the one simmer burner as, at the minimum setting, the flame is just too high and hot.<br>
Very disappointing and not particularly well made. Range top is simply folded steel without the back corners being finished, leaving holes where the metal is bent. The rear panel is also slightly curved so it does not fit flush against the wall. The center touches, but the two ends are about 1/8" away from the wall. Not pretty.<br>
On the bright side, the convection oven works flawlessly.<br>
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great stove for a small kitchen

I purchased the GE Cafe because it offered the feature to use Liquid Propane. The stove is well designed and beautifies the kitchen. Functionally excellent double oven feature. Five burners on the stove top is a knock out. The stove top allows maximum use of all the space - feature lacking on many stoves. The conversion by a qualified gas company drives up the cost. I wish a factory set LP stove could be ordered. Once I cook some more I will give an update.

We ditched the toaster oven and use this top oven 95% of the time. When you really think about how much you use your oven and for what, then you'll know if you want a single large oven or the larger oven on the top. For us, I roast veggies, bake granola, muffins, and cutlets, chops, and my kids use it for frozen food items. It made sense to have the oven we use the most on top. Very happy with its performance. Some complain about not having an digital temperature setting but it's like any other oven- you set it and learn how it cooks. You can always use an oven thermometer anyway. Love the simmer burner, and the power boil and the range of btu's in general. The stainless cleans easily and the grids too. Sleek, professional, clean looking. Love the built-in look.

One of my best purchases in years

After the nightmare I had with my last so called 'high end' gas range, this is a breath of fresh air. My wife and I do a lot of cooking and entertaining, and our new Café range exceeds our expectations. The convenience of two ovens in one location is priceless. This is a well thought out and executed product which is loaded with features. The lower oven rack glides as if riding on air. The power burner is awesome, and the simmer settings are blessings. The top is easy to keep the clean no matter how badly covered with spills and splatters. My initial impression, after having owned the product for a few months, is that I love the way it looks and cooks. I hope this is the last range I ever buy because this one is everything I wanted.

Amazing gas range

Installed this gas range on our newly remodeled kitchen in June. Installation was easy and all parts of the oven were packed well and nothing was damaged. The gas burners are amazingly versatile. The tri-ring burner goes from power boil to a candle-like simmer in one easy turn! Truly the most adjustable burner you will ever need. The ovens are great. We use the upper conventional one almost daily and it bakes evenly and accurately. The lower over is equally great and is large enough for big turkey roaster. The roller rack on the lower oven is incredible, especially appreciated when using a heavy roaster or slow cooker. The lower oven is right on the floor. Please understand that the only way to get 2 ovens a conventional size range it to put the lower oven door almost on the floor! The stove installs easily, and the anti-tip backet is easy to install on the wall or the floor. The 110v electrical and gas connections are easy to do and are well placed on the back of the range. Make sure your gas and electrical service comes out of the right location on the floor or wall. Use the template to be sure! The is a major-league range and we are totally happy we chose it over larger/clunkier semi-commecial units.
