You should be able to print a Black copy if your Black cartridge has ink in it, regardless of Yellow or Cian. Ridiculous, but so is this Questionnaire.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi , sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue with your HP 951 Yellow Original Ink Cartridge as you cannot print when one of the ink cartridges are empty. Thank you for taking the time to submit a review, I appreciate your feedback. Your printer is designed to print only when all ink cartridges have ink. A little ink from all the ink cartridges is used in periodic servicing tasks. This helps to prevent issues such as print head clogs and poor print quality. There is no way to bypass this feature. Please refer this document for more information: http://bit.ly/2AGFjn8 If this does not resolve the problem I would recommend contacting HP Support: http://hp.care/2nbNQFi Note that you will need to provide the Warranty Ends date of the cartridge. You can find the warranty end date on the cartridge itself.
