Not thrilled with these ink cartridges. I'm sure there's some long, involved process to adjust ink input or something, but as it stands, the images I've printed have been mediocre at best. Images look faded and unclear. If I thought the printer wouldn't give me major issues, I would've have spent MUCH less to get generic cartridges.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi,
I'm sorry that you're having trouble with the quality of prints right now, but I have high hopes that we can fix this fairly easily.
I'm going to take a guess that the printhead needs cleaning. If it does, that is a pretty easy process. Your printer should have an automatic routine to do that. Check the user guide, if you don't know how to start the cleaning.
If that helps, the printer might have been turned off using a power strip or switch. You should always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer 'park' itself so that the printhead is protected from excess drying. That can cause clogs to form in the tiny nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper.
If that didn't help, then you probably do need to work on the print settings. That should be covered in your user manual, or you can find instructions online. Just search with your printer model and the words "print quality".
Really?! I have to have color cartridges to print?

Have no complaints about the colors. I do have complaint that my printer will NOT print B&W without the color cartridges. So these colors may dry up as they stand by while I only print B&W.

Hi,
I am sorry that you are unhappy with the style of printer you have. This type of printer works much differently than a lot of other HP printers. Some printers can actually print using only a black cartridge, IF the tri-color cartridge is removed.
Because your printer uses separate color cartridges (rather than a tri-color one), you will get an error message if any one of the cartridges is low. This online document explains that: support.hp.com/document/c04331666
If you only want to print in black and white, you can change the settings to print black only. Now, you will still (very rarely) have to get color cartridges because the tiny nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper will clog unless they are cleared regularly. When you are not using a color, the printer will have to use a tiny bit of ink during maintenance to clear the nozzles for that color. Not doing so could ruin the printhead.
After only a week or two a message appeared on my screen to tell me the ink was low. I bought the extra large ink cartridge which surprised me. I ignored the message and it did not repeat... Just wondering
