Another great HP

My husband and I have been using HP printers for the last 15 years. We replaced our very reliable but worn out officejet with this model. It was very easy to set up wireless on our home network. It is fast, quiet and the print quality is superb.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Gigantic improvement over the 8500 series

Much more sturdy body and paper trays. If you are upgrading to this unit just make sure that all old printer options are deleted or they will corrupt the new install. Also download the software update first otherwise the scanner will not function.

This printer, FAX, scanner, copier is absolutely fantastic! It is unbelievably easy to operate, and I have been able to eliminate several other machines from my computer station because this one does it ALL!!!! I've had many HP copier/printers over the past 15 years, but I finally stepped into the 21st century after my last printer died, and I bought this one.
I facilitate a support group for people with multiple sclerosis, and nornally print around 200 pages of information for the group each time we meet. This machine will fill all my needs in one machine, and I couldn't be happier with it! It is quiet, and so fast The printing is clear, and the machine makes great copies! I am so pleased that I waited 4 months to buy it, and finally found a printer, scanner, copier, FAX that I, as a 65 year old woman, could operate with ease.

Great printer, much improved

This 8600 replaced our 8500 which was beginning to show signs of wear. I expected a similar product in a different color. What I got was a much improved product, much more user friendly, faster, better print quality, and quite frankly fun to use. There are still a few quirks I'd like HP to straighten out. For instance, my default tray is tray 2 where I keep the 8.5x11 paper, tray 1 holds envelopes. For some reason web pages continually want to print to tray 1 burning up envelopes and being an aggravation especially since the printer is in another room so I have to get up and trot in there to fix the issue every time. (Yes, I locked tray 2, still happens). However, over all, this is the best printer I've ever owned, and its much more intuitive. Set up took about 20-30 minutes, much better than the former 3 hours it normally seems to take. I literally waited to set it up until I had a free day to do it, and was finished so fast I had time to play after. If you are debating, this is the way to go. Life is much easier and work gets done a lot faster. I can't get over how fast this prints and how good the pages look. Also, the install on the ink is much easier. Good product HP!

All around great purchase for my home

I have a small real estate business – I purchase and rent homes, so I need a reliable printer, copier, scanner, fax machine but it does not have to be a work horse like in a larger office. I did a lot of research before purchasing this printer and it paid off.
My requirements for a printer/scanner
1. Peppy black and white printer
2. Quality of print does not matter
3. Color is not a requirement
4. Scan to email is a requirement
5. Good scanner paper feed
6. WiFi connectivity is a convenience
7. Larger than normal paper capacity for home office printers
8. Ease of use
9. Top feed scanner for multiple document scans
10. I want to go a while before replacing ink
11. Low cost of operation

All my requirements are met with this printer, and more. There are plently of places you can read about the features of the printer, but I want to highlight a few of them here:
Right out of the box, I enjoyed this printer. The weight and size of the unit gave me a clue that this was a serious printer. If you do not want something that is large, this device is certainly not for you. I have ample space and a good place for the printer, so never an issue with me.
It took me about an hour to setup, but I was taking my time and tinkering along the way (setting up email to print, jacking with my laptops, etc.). Because of all of the features on the printer, there are multiple things to set up. I did stumble on a few minor counter intuitive things along the way, but certainly no herculean effort to figure out.
I initially had the printer in WiFi mode, but I have found that it operates with fewer interruptions simply plugged into the network. I do not find that surprising or much different from anything else on my WiFi setup. I have since improved my WiFi setup, but thought it might be important to note that WiFi is not a panacea of connectivity in all cases.
As far as basic functionality, this printer performs exactly as advertised. It prints and scans at a more than reasonable rate. I do not find myself “waiting on the printer.” The scanner has a clean grab and scan feature, which I really appreciate. Scanners that grab more than one page at a time are frustrating and I would return the printer if it did not perform well in this category.
My favorite feature is scan to email. I use that function second only to printing. I have not found anywhere where this feature was demonstrated our touted, but this is one of the coolest things for me. I use my credentials for my email service and have assigned an email address to my printer. The printer emails me my scanned documents and I forward on to the intended recipient in most cases - Quick and easy.
Something that surprised me is how “cool” the ink cartridge replacement is, if you can call that feature “cool.” The designers thought this process through. When you lift up the face to replace the ink, a light aluminates the inside of the printer, the cartridges home out of the back and pop out where you can easily reach them. You simply push in and they pop out for easy replacement.
Needless to say, I am happy with this printer. I would recommend this printer to my Mom.

Great Printer.

I purchased this printer to replace an HP 6500 that was having some problems. It had been well worked for a number of year and was time to step and get something new. I shopped around but came back to HP. The Officejet Pro 8600 Premium offers a great value for the price. I love the web printing which allows me to send my documents from my blackberry to my printer without have to do a lot of work. The print quality is much better that the HP 6500. I like the larger ink cartridges which means I won't have to buy new ones quite as often. The Second set of Color cartridges that are part of the Premium package offers a real value.

All features are so precise and detailed. Picture quality is the best and all tyes of pictures look professional and neat. I would recommend this printer to anyone from the new beginner to the pro at copying and faxing.
