Great machine

I plugged it in, followed the instructions, and we were off and running. Scanned wonderfully and easily. Set up the wireless without a hitch. Even figured out how to send emails for printing to the printer by establishing eprinter account. I am a senior citizen with slightly above average computer skills. Eprinting might be slightly more complicated for computer novices. But I love, love, love my printer! Good purchase, value for money. Major part of the decision based on ink cartridge pricing and pages per cartridge value.

Great Printer

I bought this printer to replace an old HP Printer. This printer works great. I tested printing, scanning, and copying (but not FAX), and all of these features work great. You have to use the newer (thinner) HP photo paper, and you'll great terrific photos from this printer. I tried some older (thicker) HP photo paper and it jams. The software works perfectly for me with Windows 7 on three PC's. I left the printer configured for DHCP on my network, and set the Trendnet Router for a "DHCP Reserved" address for the printer. All in all, a great product at a great price!

Repeated Failed Connection

I love the features of this printer. However, the printer is faulty. It repeatedly loses connectivity and remains asleep. I have worked with customer service to reinstall the HP driver software which does fix the problem at the time. But, when the printer goes to sleep again it cannot be reached or woken from any of the printers on network (WIn 7 or XP). I intend to contact HP again and replace this machine.

Doesn't work with ISP-provided wireless router
on December 13, 2012

It took me HOURS to set this up. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't print via my wireless network. The signal was good, I went through setup about 10 times (literally), I ran the diagnostics and everything passed. Sadly, no where in the instructions did it say I needed to reboot my wireless router. And, apparently, if I turn my PC off at night, which I do every night, that means before I can use my printer, I need to reboot my router, which also reboots my phone, cable, internet access. So I went old-school and just have it hooked up directly to my PC.
Once you get passed that, the printer works fine. Where you place a document to scan is completely different than the HP5610. Also, I like that the 5610 opened an on-screen interface to let you look at what was scanned before you scanned it.
The amount of paper it holds is nice.

Great upgrade from el-Cheapo inkjet!

This is a great machine. I'm a home user who was blowing thru ink on my old inkjet (not an HP). Those cartridges were only good for 150-175 pages. These are good for 750-1000 pages for roughly the same cost. You can save even more on ink by using the XL cartridges. According to Consumer Reports this is one of the best ink cost-per-page models available. Wireless set-up was very easy (multiple PC's on home network). Scanning directly to any PC on the network is a nice feature. I also really like to touch screen display. So far print quality & speed are good. Color copy function also good, but I am having issues with b&w copies (I just choose color copy all the time as a work-around). And it is a little bigger than I expected - takes up more space on my desk than the el-Cheapo. Overall I'm very happy - I expect to save a bunch on ink in the next few months (I'm about one month in and so far have not made a dent in the set-up ink cartridges that came with the unit). Better to spend a little more on a quality printer (like this one) than go for the cheap model that sucks ink (and your wallet) like a thirsty man in the desert...

I highly NOT recommend on buying the HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a. It have some great features but the main reason i brought it was the wireless and it does not work properly. Of, course it was pass the 21 days and the support person you cannot understand. To get it work you have to turn off everything and then reboot the pc, turn on the router and the Printer. It might work one time and then it will quit. The others features seem to work ok. I have been focus on the wireless and really haven't the change to test the other features.

An exceptional product

The HP Officejet Pro 8600 All In One copier, printer, fax and scan is an exceptional value for the very reasonable price. The installation and set up is very quick and intuitive. The features of the machine permit a broad range of use and the improvements over my old 6500 All In One are amazing. Anyone considering purchasing an economical aAIO nd requiring reliability will find this machine very appealing.

SO FAR (ONLY HAD IT FOR A WEEK) I LIKE THE PRINTER AND THE FEATURES VERY MUCH.
THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAD WAS WITH THE "QUICK" START SET UP SHEET,IT IS ALMOST USELESS, NOT CLEAR AT ALL AND I AM NOT A NOVICE OR A PRO.
I would recommend this to a friend!
