Easy to use, dependable

On 12/29/2001 I purchased a GE countertop microwave (Model-JE1860WB 002) that is a 1.8 cu ft size, 1100 watt, with a turntable of 14.125 inches. Had used it Saturday night and on Sunday night fixed a plate of leftovers, opened door, placed the plate with a vented cover (about 3 in tall), shut the door and started to hit the “Reheat” setting and for the first time noticed the panel was completely dark, no clock, nothing. Had not noticed the clock was not on when loading plate into oven. Repairman determined the control panel was defective, so no option but to buy a new one.
After searching web found the 1.8 cu ft was no longer available, rather for similar size either 1.6 or larger is now being made. So bought 2 cu ft (Model JES2051DNWW); both old and new ovens are white, which is my preference.
Ninety per cent of my cooking is done with two settings: Reheat and Potato. All frozen veggies are placed in serving bowl, add a sprinkle of water, cover and Reheat; they come out done and ready to eat; leftovers and hit Reheat. Also, (am 81 and widower so fix my own meals) I will often fry chicken to 50-60% done (nice and crispy) then place on plate, cover and Reheat. Chicken comes out fully done (180-90 degrees) and so tender and juicy. Cooking rice is about the only thing I cook with timed setting.
Owned a deli for twenty years, went through six or more microwaves before selling business, and GE was our preferred microwave. Used two at a time, countertop models all large capacity (1.8 cu ft or larger) and stacked on top of each other, running constantly, real workhorses. When sold business in 2012 two 1.8 cu ft GE microwave ovens were still being used. Also, these microwaves were all sensor and Profile models. This new 2 cu ft model is not a Profile but looks essentially the same including the control panel and clock; turntable slightly larger at 16 in.

Stuck on GE

This our third model like this mainly because of where it is located in the kitchen. The first one we had last 14 years and the only reason we replaced it was because salt air in their community rusted through the turntable still works fine though. Now the second one only seven years I hope this one lasts many more than the second one.
