The best GE microwave we ever had was one my husband's sister gave to us over ten years ago. It lasted a long time without breaking down so naturally we decided to stick with GE. However, when we purchased a replacement for it ,we could tell there was a big difference in the quality! We barely had the first replacement for less than a month and it had to be returned. The second replacement barely lasted over a year and so we had to replace that one also. This time we've invested a little more money in our current GE microwave and we've had it for about a month , so far so good, it is still working properly. In addition to the manufacturer warranty, we decided to pay for a 2 year extended warranty so that if this one stops working after a year, we'll be able to get a replacement. We're hoping for the best but only time will tell!

It's an ok product

I've been a GE buyer for years and have seen some good and some not so good products over the years. Microwaves are supposed to last at least 10 years. This particular model only lasted 2. I followed the manufacturers directions and took care of it, but still it didn't last long.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
