Don't count on it lasting more than 3 years

Our second unit stopped heating after 3 years, just like the first one. I should have checked Consumer Reports before I bought the second unit. No more GE products in our home.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Attractive, basic microwave. Large capacity and does everything I need. Use the fresh vegetable feature daily. This is our second GE microwave.

Control pad is unpredictable. Persitent bad smell

Interior smells a bit like a wood fireplace or stubbed out cigarette. Control pad is insensitive and unpredictrable

Fantastic Microwave

This is the second time we have purchased this identical microwave. We had the first one for over 15 years and were very pleased with it so it was a no brainer that when it finally stopped working we bought the exact same item. We never had the first problem with the other one.
