Poor battery life

I bought mine 6 months ago and the battery is already bad. Will not take a charge.
Response from bose.comBy Julius, Bose Service, April 11, 2016
Hello there,
Thank you for the review. We appreciate the feedback. The SoundLink III is by far our best-sounding portable Bluetooth speaker, with the longest battery life as well. We expect you to get years of use from the system and it should definitely still be working after 6 months. We can help.
One thing to do is to reset the system by holding the mute button for about 10 seconds until the 3 LEDs flash once. Many times that is all that it needs. If that does not resolve it, we can definitely help.
We have sent an email to learn more, but we are also available by phone at 800-380-4831 if you prefer to call. We are available Monday through Friday 9am to 9pm EST.

This has been on my husband's "Wish List" for quite some time but the timing has not allowed us to follow though. Well - we finally got the SOUNDLINK lll ! This speaker is FABULOUS!*!*! My husband hasn't turned the T.V. on at all. The richness and crispness is outstanding! He's recently retired and ready to enjoy the SOUNDLINK lll'S portability both outdoors & indoors. Pairing with his cell phone was a snap! Thank you BOSE for such a beautifully made speaker!

nice sound, but very hard to link with MacBookPro
on April 18, 2016

The sound is nice, but its very hard to link via BlueTooth to my MacBookPro. Sometimes I have to try for 1/2 hour to get the MacBookPro to link via BlueTooth, and often I just give up. It looks like the company has not properly debugged the speaker for Apple-Mac Computers, and only focused on Windows.

Thank you for reaching out to us for assistance. We'd love to help here. We have found that you can improve connectivity and audio performance when using Bluetooth with a Mac by adjusting the bitpool rate. Here's how:
1. Open the Finder. 2. Double-click the “Applications” icon on the left menu bar. 3. Double-click “Utilities” icon in the Applications folder. 4. Double click on the “Terminal” icon and a new window will open with the title “Terminal – bash – 80x24”. 5. Type the following into the Terminal window, all on one line, including the quotes (Case sensitive):
defaults write com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent "Apple Bitpool Min (editable)" 48
6. Press return. 7. Quit the Terminal application. 8. Restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
If you need further assistance, our techs will be glad to help. You can reach us at 1-800-379-2073. We are open from Mon. – Fri., 9 AM – 9 PM and on Sat., 9 AM – 7 PM ET.

Bad battery and music keeps cutting out

I purchased 2 of these and they both gave me the same problem. I LOVED THE SOUND, but it was very disappointing that the battery wouldn't hold a charge and the audio kept cutting in and out

Good sound, really poor battery
on September 2, 2016

Sound is good, problem is battery goes dead in a week of non use if you don't leave it plugged in. I have li-ion batteries in drills that I can leave for months without charging. Another problem is Bluetooth needs to be re-synced almost every time. For the price I expected better. I wouldn't buy it again.

Love it, only one flaw though!

The best portable speaker I've ever owned by far. Love everything about it except for 1 thing that I hope Bose addresses in future models. When your phone is connected via Bluetooth and a call comes in, you can't get your call audio through the speaker. You can if your phone is connected via AUX port but then you get a delayed echo.

Great Sound>hassles to get started EVERY TIME.

I bought this from a friend who simply did not use it. I really like the sound quality. Good crisp sound that fills the room. Can't beat the quality. The problem is with the pairing. The smaller one I have that talks works much better. No problems at all with it. This one will not talk, and has to be re-paired every time. This drives me nuts. I can't just turn on my Mac Air iTunes and start jamming. I have to go through the pairing process each time. It gets old.

Thank you for writing this review. We love hearing that you’ve been enjoying the great sound! There are a couple things we suggest to get you enjoying this once more. The first thing to try is resetting the system. This can be done by turning on the speaker and holding the mute button for 10 seconds (you’ll see the Bluetooth symbol and AUX light blink). The speaker will turn off when you release the button. The speaker can then be re-paired with the Mac once more. One thing that would need to be done it to make sure no other devices like cell phones or tablets have Bluetooth enabled at this point. If so, we’ll need to turn off the Bluetooth feature so that there is no interference from other devices (this is not something that needs to be done with your SoundLink that talks). Remove the SoundLink III from the Bluetooth list on the Mac. Then, turn the speaker back on and hold the Bluetooth button until you hear a tone. Release the button and add the SoundLink III back onto the Mac. You should hear a different sound (kind of like a chirp) and the speaker should once again connect with the Mac. Now the SoundLink III should connect with the Mac every time, as long as no other devices with Bluetooth enabled when connecting the speaker with the Mac. This should allow you to enjoy that crisp sound every time! We’ll be reaching out to you by email to make sure this is working properly. If you’d prefer to speak with us, please call us. You can reach us at (800)367-4008. We are open Mon-Fri from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM EST and Sat from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
