Service required

I'm a Photo hobbyist and have been printing with absolute success and quite happy with the quality prints....But then one day without warning I received "Service Required" and the ink cage went to the stable locked itself there and alternating blinking lights are all I have....the printer will not communicate and will not allow me to do ANYTHING!....My research reveals the problem is most likely the ink waste pad is fully saturated so why can I not clean it as I have and have this printer respond???
Epson...Not everyone can afford the cost to service this printer online comments say the service exceeds the cost of the printer...How does this make any sense! So here I am no printer and no options I know of to get this unit back on line and printing...What say YOU!...Great Printer when working.

Danged gloss optimizer

The prints are lovely, the color (once calibration is fiddled with), ditto. But why oh why, even when I take care to turn it OFF does the gloss optimizer spray itself all over my plain sheets of paper or rag paper, leaving them damp and making me spend extra money on another cartridge? Hate it. Also, inks are super-expensive.

Long Term View Stylus PhotoR2000

I have had a fair length of time to use the Stylus Photo R2000 printer in the USB mode. I like everything about it EXCEPT that it gulps huge amounts of Gloss Optimizer compared to small amounts of all of the inks. When I complained to the photo store where I bought it, I was told that I should have expected that to happen because it was a photo printer. I left very unsatisfied. The Gloss Optimizer coats even regular bond paper with a thick coating which makes the printed paper soppy if even one iota of color was to be printed on the page.I have now taken to using Epson Photo Paper 3 star so that I have a usable copy that does not curl on the edges.
If I print photographs 4* or 5* paper from Epson, the Gloss Optimizer still coats the paper but the end result is fine.
I have just downloaded the update for the OS X Mavericks MacIntosh System and I will give it a try. I do not have the money to buy a different printer and inks. I have owned several other Epson Stylus Photo Printers and have never had a problem like I have with this printer

Good printer with reservations...

I am quite pleased with the results from this printer. Only problems are occasional paper feed problems (keep feed rollers very clean) and in cartridge changing process. It generally requires several attempts to get the print head to respond to the front panel pushbutton, and it doesn't always like to recognize that a new cart has been installed.
The biggest problem for me is that there is no place within 175 miles of my home that sells replacement ink cartridges. Also, I am deeply offended that I am required to agree to terms and conditions to write a review that epson requested!

printing in Scottsdale

The R2000 was easy to set-up, especially the wireless set-up. Print quality is great for a printer in this price range. I have only two complaints, which are the same issues that I had with my old R1800 printer. First, a significant amount of ink evaporates even when the printer is not in use. Even in periods when it is not used much, the ink will disappear. Be prepared to constantly be buying ink cartridges. The second issue is that it does not have the option to print text black and white when one of the color cartridges is empty.

Not as good as the r1900

My r1900 broke down after several years of us. I custom make invitations and accessories and print on card stock and envelopes all the time. So I decided together the next model up, but the ink is almost double in price and I have trouble with feeding the envelopes and card stock. Many times I have to stand there and feed 1 piece at a time and push/help each through. Wastes a lot of my time!

EPSON Stylus Photo R2000 Inkjet Printer

I've been using a lab since I sold my last printer and I missed being able to print my art work, so I purchased this printer about 2 months ago. I've owned the B9180 and the Pro 9500, both were nice printers, but this R2000 beats them hands down. I've printed on glossy, card stock, matte and cd and the results have been wonderful. I haven't purchased roll paper yet, but love the fact that I can do panorama if I want to. I've printed a few dozen 8.5 x11, a couple larger 12x16, and approx. 30 4x6's, 5 5x7's, 25 invitations and 1 cd. I am still on the first set of inks that came with the printer and the ink left in all colors (except the Cyan, almost empty) is at or just below half. Once you get all the tape removed from the printer, set up is easy and quick. The wireless is wonderful. It's so nice to be able to set up my printer any where in the office w/out the mess of a USB cord attached. I would and have already recommended this printer.

Not what expected from Epson

The printer does print beautifully, once a user figures out how to make it work. This is my third Epson printer, having worn out a 1270 and 1280 in the past. The install disc did not fully load, it would hang up on the "print CD" section. Most disturbing, the Owner's Manual is not at all like what is on the screen. I finally downloaded the installation software from their web site and so far it seems to work OK. Had quite a time finding all the print control features buried deep in the menus, especially with no guide. Tech support not very helpful, was told to reinstall Photoshop, which didn't make a bit of difference.
