Quality deterioration
on May 31, 2020

Over many years I've used Schick, Remington, Norelco, and finally I discovered Braun after reading a Consumer Reports review of electric razors. That was several years ago. However, the Braun shaver Series 3 heads seem to have deteriorated in quality significantly over the past few years. The instructions say the heads should be changed every 18 months. I think the first few I had did last that long. I've been lucky to get 2 or 3 months of service out of the last few. What happened?

That's absolutely never the experience that we'd expect you to have when using our shavers, Paul. We can assure you that all of the replacement heads go through many quality checks before they get to you, and should always be lasting up to the full 18 months. Please give us a call at (800) 272-8611 as we'd like to learn more about your experience.

Not the same as old model.

I have my series 3 Braum for 6 years. I was always very happy with the 32B replacement. Until the last time, this one does not shave as close. I have to go over it multiple times. Even with using Elecricshave. The ones I was using over the years had the black center. The new ones which you bill as (new generation) has a white center and does not shave close at all. I was told by someone that when a company comes out with new improved or new generation it means they found a cheaper way to make it. I truly believe that this what happened to the 32B. After researching Braun shavers I find I am not the only one that has that problem. I am considering going back to my faithful hand razor or going to a different brand.

You should be getting the same, great quality shave with your every Braun purchase so we're sorry to hear about this. It may be helpful to know that a foil & Cutter should typically last up to 18 months depending on your shaving method, beard type and how well and often you clean your shaver. To get the best performance and long-lasting results, we suggest cleaning your shaver regularly along with oiling it with light machine oil from time to time. Since your loyalty of six years means everything to us, we'd like to get you back to the trusted days with us. When you find a few moments, could you please give us a call at (800) 272-8611?

Only the first 32B lasted more than 18 months.

I have been using Braun since I started shaving but over the last five years I can't refrain from experiencing a continuous deterioration in quality. The shave isn't very close anymore as it used to be and the replacement heads don't even make it to the recommended 18 month mark. They usually break around 10 to 12 months even when I spend the extra money to use the cleaning cartridges for my 350cc-4 and oil them from time to time. With the 32B heads the foil breaks in a couple places or the noise becomes so unbearable that the morning shave is a pain. My loyalty to Braun is entirely at risk based on this experience - if the quality doesn't get better soon the next disruptor to the market will take me over in a heartbeat.

We certainly hear you, Chris, and we're going to everything we possibly can to restore your confidence in the Braun name. We do want to share with you that a shaver foil & Cutter should typically last up to 18 months, however, this depends on your shaving method, beard type and how well and often you clean your shaver. To ensure the longevity of it, we recommend cleaning it regularly along with applying light machine oil to the blades from time to time. To prevent the blades from breaking, cracking, wearing down, etc. we suggest always using light pressure when shaving and holding the shaver at a 90 degree angle. Pressing too hard can shorten the lifetime and cause damage to the foil. So we can prove to you why we're perfect for you, could you please give us a call at (800) 272-8611 so we're able to make this right?

Works For Me

I've had a Series 3 shaver since 2011 with only one defective 32B replacement head since I've owned it. Other than that, they have worked great. The only thing I would recommend is to have those tiny shaver parts like the springs or the parts that actually move the shaver head blades to be better designed so that they don't fall off so easily. They should also be readily available since they're very easy to replace.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Lasts only 6 months

Like some other reviewers, I have found that the performance of the cutter drops off drastically after a few months. I have now had to replace it twice in less than a year, due to slow, ineffective shaves, and pulling on whiskers. I have used Braun shavers for many years, and the cutter blocks have always lasted much longer. When they started to pull at whiskers, it was usually because of a small tear in the screen. This one is pulling without any tears, and seems to be very dull. I almost switched to a different shaver instead of buying a new cutter, but decided to give it one more try.

Series 3 replacement blade doesn't last 18 months as advertised

I purchased (2) Series 3 - 32B replacement blade(s). One was damaged and couldn't use without cutting my face. The second has barely lasted 6 months let alone 18! It practically takes 15 to 20 minutes to shave as I have to repeatedly go over the same areas of my beard to get a complete shave. I'll be going back Gillette!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. How long these parts last depends on how often you shave, and the thickness and length of your beard.

Before you use the shaver you should check the foil for nicks, dents and wear. For best performance, you should replace the foil and cutterblock every 9 to 18 months.
