The downside to this is the controls. Using the camera it self to can be a bit confusing and it it best to set things up with a PC or your cell(Android) phone. The battery will last about 60-100 mins of rec. I suggest getting a spare or 2. I use mine for motorcycle rides and have spares. The camera quality is outstanding.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I purchased this camera because, well I love Sony, the price was better than competitors, and the reviews were good. I ride a motorcycle. I also am a service technician at a dealer. I like to record my ventures so I can reflect on them and God forbid something go wrong... I will have it recorded. The clip is of me riding from a gas station to work. I fitted the camera to the top of my helmet with the mount that is ment for rounded objects. I saw the 3M grey adhesive and knew it would hold well on a clean surface that is not completely smooth. If it were smooth I would recommend scouring the surface for maximum hold. I have now rode over 200mi with the cam atop my head. No issues with it. I had the cam set to 1080 30fps. I now have it set at 720 30fps for battery life and memory savings. In both modes you can read liscense plates and other important location information. The 720 mode also seems to make the battery last a while longer. This camera overall has met and exceeded my expectations. I would buy some more and take advantage of the link feature... But they still are not that inexpensive. Good job Sony! Also the image stabilization works well if you want to use it on a dash of a car. Battery life is good not excellent. Also I do not see an easy way to keep the unit plugged in whilst recording, thus it does not make a good dash cam... But it isn't one. So good...
I bought this camera primarily for the built in GPS for use when I drag race or autocross. I haven't had an actual event but on a highway test run the speed data is very cool to have on the video. While it lags a hair the speed was very accurate to what I saw on the HUD while driving.
The other neat feature is the waterproof capability. I only tried that on vacation in the pool with my kids but it was very cool to get video of them jumping right at me in the pool, and then swimming to me underwater. The underwater footage was very clear, much better than I expected, of course in a fairly clear hotel pool.
I have an older GoPro so its not a direct comparison of current technology but the Sony's picture quality was great, kind of like high definition to non, but I would expect it to be just being 2-3 years newer. So far I'm very pleased with the camera.
I use this for shooting short videos. I didn't need anything fancy and this shoots in high def with many features. The app works great as a monitor when using phone.
