The recommended syrup to water ratio is incorrect and soda flavor is, specifically the diet cola, is awful. Also the instructions state there would be a click when pushing the button for the C02 to indicate to stop but it doesn't. Causing the amount of carbonation to be off. Very unhappy with the product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The new Sodastream refills have much larger capacity than previously, but are more reasonably priced. . This makes the Sodastream much more cost-effective

I have owned a Soda Stream for years the 1st on was fantastic. The second and third ones were less so. The second one worked properly for about 3 months. The third one worked properly for about the same time frame, The fourth and currently seems to meet the fantastic qualification but I have only had it a month. The difference, in my opinion, is the way it attaches to the bottle. #2 and #3 attached by pressure. #1 and #4 have a screw fit. With #2 and #3 after awhile they would not work after the CO2 bottle got to less than 1/2 full. I had 3 bottles that I was about to return for new when I decided to get #4. I am currently using one of the CO2 bottles that #3 said it is empty. I have been using this CO2 bottle for a couple weeks. So I say "IF" you get a screw type Soda Stream they are FANTASTIC if you get the other type no so fantastic.

I recently purchased my second SodaStream (one at work, one at home) and I love it. I drink the water plain with no flavor added. I bought and tried a bottle of the SodaStream Cherry Cola flavor and it was awful! I threw the bottle away. Very artificial tasting. If I do add flavor I add a squirt of the Mio Vitamin type flavors.
I also notice that my new machine is lighter than my old one. Without the weight it slides around on the counter top when the bottle is screwed on and off.

This is my second machine. My first was a Source and I loved it but it was loud. This is lovely and fast and nice and Quiet! Gives good bubbles and is light to move about.
