We have had SodaStreams for about five years now, and our first two were this basic model and were excellent. For some reason this basic model has been changed so that there is a metal tip on the "injector" and there is no loud noise to let you know when your water is fully "gassed up." We are finding that this machine does not get our water bubbly enough. Even after six or seven presses. Very frustrating.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are sorry to hear you don't care for the changes we have made to our sparkling water maker. We did in fact update our machines to have a silent valve based on consumer feedback that they didn't care for the loud noise. When making your beverage if your stream coming from the nozzle is reaching the bottom of your bottle then you are carbonating. If the stream isn't going all the way to the bottom we recommend you call one of our sparkling water specialists at 1-800-763-2258 or email them at SparklingWaterSpecialist@sodastream.com.

2nd purchase. Pump part has poor plastic strength. 2x broke, the newest one lasted a week then broke. Still usable but it will be the last.
