nice upgrade

Upgraded from a 32" Sony, and was pleased to discover the 40 is only
five inches wider than the old set, which had a three-inch wide frame
around the screen. The picture quality is much better also (480p to 1080), which matches up well with both our Xfinity cable and our Sony Blu-ray.

The new set is also noticeably lighter than the old 32, which made placement for one person a snap.
A couple small criticisms are in order, to explain why I didn't give the
set five stars. The narrow black border of the screen is of such a high
gloss that it reflects into the viewer's eyes during daytime viewing; a
flat black would have been a better choice. Also, the dc power plug from the set's transformer has no positive locking connection. Upon initial setup, I got no response upon hitting the power button; a check of connections corrected this. But while stringing speaker wires behind
our entertainment center, one brushed the power cable, and the set went off. I now have the power cord taped to the back of the set.

Overall, we are delighted with the new television, which was priced the same as the four-year-old Sony it replaced. Hopefully Sony will change the power plug to one with a positive retention in the next version.

Great picture clarity. Has accurate color in bright areas; handles 1080p/24 content properly. Best TV in this price range. Simply i can say much better TV as expected.

Nice TV, Big design flaw.

Purchased as a gift, planned to install on wall. Electrician by trade, 'pro' handyman. Have done several wall mounts. Purchased full articulating mount. Problem: TV Input/Output connections are almost dead centered on back of TV, thus preventing wall mount TV bracket from being installed(that is if you want to plug video or audio in to the TV). Neither Sony instructions nor wall mount instructions offered any option or 'heads up' for this issue. I believe Sony specifications said TV was a VESA 200x300. If one can't utilize a wall mount bracket then is it really following a standard? Hmm. Solution: I was able to modify use of bracket plate and arms to accommodate. Turning the arms all downward off the back plate and setting the back plate above the TV connections was successful. Amazingly, I did not have to drill the brackets for screw alignment. Due to the fact this TV is very light, this improvisation in mounting is stable. SONY, what the heck were you thinking? OH, that's why you provided the cheesy little wall mount stand offs with the TV. Fine if you can be happy with a non-moveable flatmount. Or there is the snazzy table top stand provided also.
Otherwise, this Sony TV and my 55" Bravia- Love the picture and all the features. Set up and ease of use for my girlfriend and her daughters was great.

Best computer monitor ever!!

Set up was easy, pretty much plug and play with a beautiful screen and combined with my GTX 780 video card, games played on my computer is a whole nother experience!! Get this TV!! It will kick your PC experience up a notch or two. Best purchase ever!! You will not be disappointed when using it as a monitor. I couldnt be more pleased. Oh and I won't even mention the super deal on the price.

Love this TV! HD channels on my cable are crisper and sharper than any other TV I've owned, including other Sony TVs. The set also looks great. The price ($500) makes this TV a best buy in my book! Good work, Sony.

Best TV I've ever owned.

I've loved this TV from the first time I turned it on. It had the easiest network setup I've seen. The colors on the TV are spot on and the image looks 3D. The viewing angle is amazing. I love how well it upconverts lower res sources. It's much improved from my older Bravia 2 TV. The only caution I have is that it is very thin and you have to be much more careful setting it up than an older model. It is lighter than the Sony 32" it replaced.

Excellent features. This TV offers the best picture and video quality for it's price range. Thank's to Xreality Engine Pro and the Motionflow 240. I bought this unit for my bed room and looks amazing in design. I have paired it up with nice Sony Home theater BDV -3100 and the sound it's even better not that the sound quality off the tv is bad on the contrary it has an excellent sound quality too!!! Finally, I'm considering purchasing a bigger model for my living room.

Great TV, perfect size, odd port location

This TV is great! I ordered one of the first shipments and after a quick software upgrade we were off and running.
Mostly use TV for watching satellite via HDMI and home media via DLNA. HDMI control works great on the TV and auto detected my Denon E300.
The one piece of feedback is that the ports are located in the middle of the mounting bracket, which makes it very difficult to leverage ports while mounting to a wall. The unit uses an odd configuration (like 150 x 250 mm) so combined with the port location you are forced into buying a more expensive HDTV mount than you should have to for a 40" entry level TV.
