Stay Away!!! Waste of money!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] the motor went bad after 14 months of ownership. this was a $700 dryer. a total waste! never again will i purchase a samsung appliance!

Dont buy the drum cracks

this was a great washer for the first few years but after 5 years the drum cracked. it seems by looking at other reviews on multiple sites everyone has the same problem but many times it is happening after only a year or two once the warranty has expired. do not purchase this unless you want to be buying a replacement in a few years.

Terrible Reliability

we got this dryer 6 years ago. dryer was good for 4 years, then began having problems.
in the last 2 years:
- grinding. replaced belt, tensioner, and wheels. better, but it's starting to sound rough again.
- fail to heat. replaced failed fuse.
- fail to heat. replaced failed fuse and high limit thermostat.
- fail to heat. heating element was destroyed. replaced heating element, housing, fuse and thermostat (again).
- today it failed to heat again. i'll find what has failed, and also replace the thermistor on the blower housing, as i haven't done that yet.
this dryer has been a total nightmare, and we've spent a ton on oem parts. infuriating that we replaced a working 30 year old dryer for this "upgrade" that can't stay running. i will never buy another samsung appliance.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

3 ELECTRICAL FAILURES IN 4 YEARS, REPLACING NOW

i bought this unit 4 years ago, i'm a single guy, i don't do a ton of laundry, yet i've had various electrical elements burn out 3 times since buying it (high limit fuse as well as heating element). having a look at consumer reports verified my suspicions that samsung has serious reliability issues. i'm replacing my 4 year old unit with a new dryer from another brand now.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

dryer dv42h5000e: ran great for 3 years, replaced the element, lasted two more years, replaced it again and it lasted half a load. time for a new machine without samsung name on it.

Our dryer is 5 years old. Like many on this forum, it developed an issue of a metal-on-metal grinding sound. I have never owned a dryer that has only lasted 5 years. Prior to it breaking, the dryer worked fine. My biggest complaints were (1) the auto-sensor option for drying only worked for High and Medium heat, but I dry most of my clothes on Low, so I couldn't take advantage of the auto-sensor drying and (2) the steam option never worked properly - and I had to pay a plumber to set up the water line, only to have the steam not work. It's impossible to find the right replacement parts on Samsung's site.
We just bought another washer/dryer set for another house and it was NOT a Samsung
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
