Hi sonny215, We appreciate you taking the time in writing this feedback. Sony cameras do not overheat as long we are within the product specified limitation between 0°C and 40 °C (32 °F and 104 °F). You may check out this link for more details. https://docs.sony.com/release//ILCE-5000_DigitalCamera_HelpGuide_EN.pdf -Jerome

Good Camera
on June 11, 2014

Great camera,
Pros: Image quality, easy to use, light and small, integrated flash, WiFi, interchangeable lenses
Cons: A little slow focus, the shooting speed is slow for sports or wildlife photography.
I recommend this camera if you are on a budget. Hands down a winner.
But if you can spend a little bit more the a6000 is better and has more features.
The online customer support for this product is terrible! I have been trying to figure out if the camera that I own has the latest firmware and every time I input the model in the support page it kicks me back to the shopping page for the camera. Sony, please fix this!

Good but has its flaws
on February 3, 2014

So this camera's actually been available in Asia for about a week now and so I picked it up in Shanghai. I've played with the NEX 3/5 series from a colleague of mine so I made the dive to switch from Canon to Sony. Overall I think the photos are beautiful and the focus is fast and all that.
My 2 complaints really are that there is no microphone jack so shooting any interviews really can't be done well here. Secondly I think in general the wifi/nfc stuff is just kind of buggy, the interfaces to link up to your phone and laptop are great when they work, but that's a big if. These are not really intuitive to setup and there's a ton of Mac software all randomly on the web after googling but there's no one consolidated place to find all that i need for let's say wireless transfer vs. remote control etc.

A5000 manual video controls w/o 60p & FX bitrate
on March 31, 2014

Dear Sony, your marketing team didn't not realize that opting out 60p recording with 28Mbps max bit rate to A6000 will cost thousand plus more for underwater setup! You could fix that with a simple A5000 firmware update and make a lot of people happy! Because of A5000 size, image quality with new 20Mp sensor and manual video controls, during recording(Aperture, ISO(100-3200) and Shutter speed), it already makes A5000 a very good camera... but... If you do that 60p recording update with ISO bump to 6400 for videos, it will become a very desirable up-to-date one! And don't worry, you still will have 24Mp sensor, burst rate and image quality advantage on A6000 model...
Plus, it's not year 2010 any more, 4K is already here and 1080p@60fps recording is available on $200 point and shoot cameras! Also, AVCHD is ageing, it's about the time to include something else, like MOV or a standard 1080p frame MP4 codec at 30 and 60 FPS, with at least double bitrate, at 24Mbps and higher! Canon did 35Mbps 60p MP4 for all Vixias and Panasonic has 28Mbps 60p MP4 codec for GXs and GH3s since last year... so, catch up!
I, personally, will be more happy with 60p 24Mbps MP4 than 28Mbps AVCHD! And at last, there should be enough battery charge for a full day of camera usage, especially when people travel. All these EPA standards with number of shots are obsolete! With bigger screens and extra features such as GPS and WiFi(NFC) cameras need more juice to last the same amount of time... latest tablets, PDAs, cell phones and laptops already last over 10 hours why not the cameras? Okay, You can say, have a spare one or two and problems solve, yes, I always have an extra battery and I usually can change it... but... what if I am on the boat, or an island, or in jungle and it's raining... got the picture? Sony, you always was the best one with the batteries, but they are all the same as far as I remember 1000-1200mAh... so how about making 3600 - 4800mAh new ones?

Poor Camera

Nice camera with good quality, but it broke after only two months of barely being used. I would not recommend this product if you don't want it to break for no reason.
