FANTASTIC Washer IF YOU FOLLOW Product Manual

This is my second LG Washer. They are extremely quiet and effective washers. This washer has great variety, can wash quickly when lightly soiled, or has many options for deep cleaning ("Bright Whites", steam clean, etc). Some have complained that it leaks, and it will IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR CARE AND MAINTENANCE. (Many folks don't do the proper maintenance, and then complain when it doesn't work perfectly). If it leaks - whether you've had it for 10 years or a day, follow the trouble shooting instructions - wipe clean the gasket and the door, clean out the trap filter, and add chlorine and put an empty load on "TUB CLEAN". IT WORKS LIKE MAGIC! (I did it soon after I had it delivered). If you do the regularly recommended maintenance, it will work like a charm and last for many years. It's among the top rated by Consumer Reports. Years ago, LG had trouble stocking parts for washers, but now you can order nearly any part on-line and have it delivered in 1-2 days (which I did for my first LG washer / dryer set).

This machime really changed my mind

After a previous LG washer died after only six years with just two adults, I was very anti-LG. However, after reading superior reviews in a national review publication and talking to sales staff in various stores for several high end models, I purchased this machine. I'm pleased to say that this is the best & most efficient machine I have had.

Awesome washer!

We LOVE this washer! It does a great job with very little detergent and very little water. And the spin cycle is so good that clothes come out barely damp, which means less time in the dryer or hanging to dry time for the delicates.
The drum is really big and I find myself able to do fewer loads which is also a plus.
The people who have written negative things appear to be unfamilar with front loaders. For ALL front loaders you should leave the door ajar when it's empty so it can dry out/air out otherwise they will get musty. Hardly a tough thing to remember to do, and this model has a special button that keeps the door from sealing so you can easily leave it ajar for airing, and it doesn't just "hang open". Consumer Reports rated #1

This product met my expectation

I was planning to get a conventional top loading washer with tall agitator just like the one I used for 20 years. After asking around my friends, checked the comsumer review, and talked to a few whaser sale-person, I decided to get this one instead. I've been warned by friends about the problem with mold growing in the front load washers, so I've been very carefully followed the manufacture's instruction and I leave the washer door open widely all the time when I'm not using it. We had the machine for 6 weeks and so far I had no problem with mold. It gets my laundry clean with less water. It took shorter time for the dryer to dryer the laundry, because they were spinned drier than my previous washer. One thing the owner's manual could improve is in the section of "cleaning the drain pump filter". Currently is says "periodically clean ..". From my experience, after 3 normal loads, I've drained about 2 cups of water from the drain hose. So it should emphasize on the need of frequent draining.

When my previous front loader of 15 years couldn't be repaired for less than the cost of a new one, I was forced to look for a new washer. I was astounded at the choices and technological options to choose from. After much research, I chose the LG 4.0 cu.ft. front loader. It's a smooth-running machine and I'm glad I chose it. The cycles and options are easy to learn to use, though intimidating at first. The child lock is a nice feature. I like the capability of the machine to "sense" each load and adjust the water accordingly. I feel like my clothes, towels, etc., are super clean and the spin cycle extracts almost every drop of moisture, so my dryer doesn't have to work so hard which saves even more energy. So far, couldn't be happier with the performance of this washer. My negative is the cost plus the additional inflated price of the pedestal. However, if this washer lasts as long as my previous one, with no repairs necessary, it will be money well spent!

I've heard a lot about this product and since my 2 year old washer, not this brand, broke and was unrepairable I decided to give it a try.
I'm very satisfied with it so far. It is quiet and the clothes come out really clean.
I like having all the different wash cycles to choose from.

Water efficiency too dry, results in abrasive wash

The water efficiency programming is way too dry resulting in abrasive & sometimes inadequate washing. Should have a "normal water level" override button. LG cannot possibly anticipate all wash situations. Features inadequate, I use the "Bulky Items" setting for everything now and sometimes that is not enough water.

My first LG product, but not my last!

I have just purchased my WM3470HWA clothes washer and couldn't be happier. I'm amazed at the speed of the wash cycle, and the "Bright Whites" cycle.. WOW! I washed 4 white towels using this cycle (same detergent, chlorine bleach, and softener that I always use) and couldn't believe the difference in the whiteness of the towels I washed compared to the ones that were in the cabinet.
If I was to change one thing about the washer, it would be to make the "end of cycle" signal a bit louder... My washer is installed in a pantry, and if the door is closed, I can barely hear the signal when the wash cycle is complete.
