Easy to use - and understand the features. Washes clothes well and there is no doubt when it will finish because it tells you how long the load will be. Very quiet as well.
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

My first best front load washer

This washer is amazing, I confess that when washing the first time, I thought I would not get my clothes clean as my old washer, but I was wrong because with less water and detergent my clothes were very clean, and I dare to say better. I've used almost every cycle of the washing machine and tell them to work very well. I recommend this washer to anyone, it is the best I've had.

Super washer!

My old washer was more expensive with a whole lot of features that I never used and broke a number of times. My new LG front load washer is a larger capacity with same features and costs less and works super. I am really happy with my choice.

Have had it for a few weeks and works well. Lots of different settings and have tried a few of them and they all seem to do a good job. Probably more selections than needed but always nice to have multiple choices. Make sure to put those shake coasters on the bottom to lessen the amount of shaking on the spin cycle.

Exclellent washer

I'm new to having one of the recent generation of washers, with all of the electronic bells and whistles. I love it - especially the load sensing, and water thriftiness. The only downsides that I can mention are the mediocre user manual - a number of functions are less than clearly explained and the lack of ability to leave garments to soak the way that one can in a top loader. That said, it does a splendid job of cleaning clothes.
BTW, it doesn't recommend using Oxyclean, in case that's a beloved product.
The website has informative sections on using the machine...

Buy This Washer!!
on May 30, 2012

This is the first front loader washer I have purchased. After way more due diligence than any one person should ever do for an appliance, I decided to replace my energy hog top loader with this LG front loader. I was hesitant to do so, but in the end just did it. I’ve read horror stories with all of the brands out there, but seemed to read way more positive reviews on LG than any other brand. I bought this model before there were any reviews out there on it taking a risk, but I am glad I did! I have the mind of an engineer, and have probably spent too much time studying how it works. The amount of water it uses for the amount of laundry is minimal. I did a full load of towels and it used about 28 gallons of water in total. To do the same amount of towels in my top loader (double rinse), I would have had to do 2 loads and would have used about 130 gallons. I read reviews about the spin cycle shaking too much. My machine is on a concrete floor, so it might be different on a wood floor, but it doesn’t shake at all. The one thing that I did not read in any of the reviews for any of the front loaders is that if you have particularly high water pressure, these washers will cause your pipes to hammer (or bang throughout the house). I can’t imagine that would be very good for the plumbing. You’ll need to get something called a Mini-Rester Water Hammer Arrester. They are very inexpensive and solve the hammering problem. I have extremely few and extremely minor dislikes about this machine. I’ll list my likes and dislikes below and you can judge for yourself.
Likes:
• I can fit double the laundry in this machine than I could my top loader. I can fill it up completely and it still cleans everything in it. Pillows, blankets, queen size comforter, over a dozen pair of jeans; no problem!
• If I dropped a sock on the way down the stairs, I can still go back and put it in after the machine has started. If you hit the pause button, the door will unlock for you. The only times it will not unlock is if it senses that the water is too hot (on the sanitary and allergiene cycles) or if the water level is too high, which it is not on most cycles.
• This machine has a cycle for every load possible! And, options like steam that you can add to the cycle. I especially like the Sanitary and Allergiene cycles for my sheets because I have allergies. Yes, they take a while, but it’s worth it. And I can fit 4 sets of queen sheets in there at a time so in the end, I don’t think it’s unreasonable.
• Most cycles are pretty fast – no longer or not much longer than the top loader. It adjusts the amount of time depending on the load size too. A full load of towels might take an hour, but you’re washing double the amount you could in the top loader and the dry time is cut down because it extracts most of the water in the final spin. Most loads seem to take around 45 minutes.
• Very fast spin speeds for things going into the dryer which cuts down dry time and energy used significantly. I tend to hang my dress shirts and pants to dry, so I use a slower spin speed which also does a good job without wrinkling my clothes.
• Extremely energy efficient and quiet! It adjusts the amount of water and time depending on the load size. Because it has a direct drive motor, the only sound it makes is the sound of the laundry crashing through the water, which is very minimal. Spinning has a slight hum, but if you close the door to your laundry room, you’ll never know its running.
Dislikes (however insignificant):
• The washer door is not reversible, so it has to go on the left. Seems like most all front loaders are like this, but it’s annoying because my laundry area is set up for the washer to be on the right. At least they made the drain hose and power cord long enough to accommodate this.
• I don’t like the tinted door. If you want to see what’s going on inside, you’ll need a flashlight.
• You’ll need to buy the Water Hammer Arrestor mentioned above if you have high water pressure.
• I really wish it had a drain & spin with the option of adding a rinse rather than a rinse & spin, but not a big deal.
• If you want the hot and warm water settings to actually use hot and warm water, you’ll need to draw the hot water from the water heater to the washer. Because it uses so little water, by the time the hot water reaches the washer, it’s already half full so what you really get is cooler water than expected. If you have a laundry tub, as I do, you just have to run the hot water in the sink until hot water comes out so that the cold water in the pipes aren’t fed into the washer. If you don’t have a sink, you could always use the pre-wash feature to solve the problem. I suppose this is an issue with all front loaders.
• I think the price for the machine is not far out of line, but the price for the drawer underneath is outrageous. I opted to not get it because of that. Would be nice to have it.

Very good, not perfect

This model washes very well and has minimal vibration. There is a variety of cycle options, my favorite being the "Fresh Care" setting that tumbles the contents occasionally after the completion of a cycle, to reduce wrinkling. It all works well. And cute tinkly tunes play to announce end of cycle, open door, etc. (much like R2-D2's beeps in Star Wars). One has to remind oneself that this machine is not a happy, happy person!
On the other hand, one expects a lot from an expensive machine such as this one.
First, the abrupt, frequently repeated on-and-off cycling of the inlet valves cause water hammer (a banging sound), even with a DEX plastic water distribution system. The physical stresses associated with water hammer can damage one's plumbing. Water hammer arresters, which are commercially available at low cost (ex.: Sioux Chief's Mini-Rester[TM], should have been a part of the machine's design, and they should have been located inside the chassis. A customer can fix the problem by connecting such units externally, but one has to wonder why that should be necessary.
Second, despite the numerous options for cycles, there is relatively little flexibility. For example, there seems to be no way to end a wash cycle immediately and cause the machine to drain, or to advance the cycle manually, as one can with a rotary timer.. One can not select the fastest spin option in certain cycles.
If these problems were addressed, this machine would earn a solid 5-star rating.

This terrible washer has destroyed my clothes.

This is a terrible washing machine. I was so excited to buy it. It seemed like it had so many features and wash settings. To my great dismay, it has proved to be just the opposite. It has destroyed all my clothes... Even the most indestructible towels I own have been shredded and beaten to a pulp. Even at delicate or hand wash settings, my t shirts and delicate clothes have been destroyed. I had a technician come to inspect it, and have followed all wash instructions re: proper detergent amounts etc... to no avail. I am so sorry that I purchased this washer. It is a terrible product and I would not recommend it to anyone.
