Best & fastest printer with color known

I avoided color printers for many years after experiencing various models that were slow, costly, and messy on different ways of getting ink refills. As an IT Director and former Fortune 500 IT consultant, I did a thorough search to see if color printers were any faster. Sure, the color lasers were but, I also knew the cost of the color toner plus the maintenance cost if any single thing goes wrong on the printer. I didn't see anything so, I opted for a new black and white laser again. Then, 2 years later, I looked again and found info on higher speeds. I ck'd various models and saw the numerous customer reviews and narrowed it down to this Epson model. I didn't care about the fax function but I did need a scanner and so I revisited the color printer aspect as well. So, this one had a great number of features that I could see an advantage for. It was network capable as well as wifi capable. It would work on Windows 8 and it would accept some 3rd party ink cartridges (those don't always work out a lot due to leakages or weak color). I purchased the WP)-4530 model with an extended warranty, directly from Epson. A lot of the reviewers who did experience an issue seemed to be shortly after a year of ownership and the predominant issue was leaky ink. Although there were many reviewers who never experienced an issue. I have printed on cardstock & heavy photo paper with amazing results. I'm exceptionally pleased. The scanner has multiple options and numerous settings. I'm able to do the things that some reviewers appeared to be technically challenged and thought that certain features didn't exist. I'm able to scan to a networked folder of my choosing and have elected to scan directly as a PDF. To perform the network scan, I just added a mapped drive letter using a UNC path. I have the option (and have done this) to change the setting to scan to a JPEG format for photos. I've used the wifi function so our mobile computers can print to it. It's connected to the network for networked computers to use AND it's connected via USB to a single computer PLUS broadcasting itself over wifi. I'm using all 3 at the same time but setup each computer to connect to it using 1 of those 3 methods. They ALL work. Have used it for about 8 months and average about 4 months per set of cartridges. The EPSON cartridges are costly but they don't smear when wet (like exposed to rain for shipping labels). I have found an equivalent vibrant color alternative but that's my secret.

Disappointed

After placing newspaper clippings (obituaries, etc.) I want to save because the paper deteriorates, it wouldn't copy the edges every way I tried except to place only 2 side-by-side.

My WP-4530 All-in-One has worked excellently. The ink cost less than other ink for comparable All-in-Ones. More importantly, the WP-4530 extremely rarely jams or performs badly in other ways. I rely on its performing well inexpensively, and it does. I bought another Epson All-in-One as a Christmas present for a good friend, because of the excellence of mine. She loves it too!

Software hangs on install with W7 and support siite has nothing on it. After a couple of hours I think I have it working. But can not share printer under windows without reinstalling the software on each machine. Other printers do the driver install automaticly for you. This one does not.
The supports site is VERY slow to reponded and I have a very high speed internet connection. Epson need to upgrade their end of it.
Looks like a nice printer once you get the software working, but it is not worrh the effort.

I purchased this product and used it. Then I had no need for it for several months. When I attempted to use it again, it didn't work. Epson sent me another printer and I put brand new ink cartridges in it. I have used it once, and I'm told I need to replace the ink cartridges. THIS PRODUCT WILL COST YOU A FORTUNE! DON'T DO IT!!

not what I expected

The workforce printer did a good job on color "border" photos. No where could I find instructions on how to do a borderless print. I wanted it for printing photos as well as office work so it did not work for me. Also found it took up too much space with the specialty paper loading on the back of it.
