Work-Pro 4540 would not initialize

The cartridges supplied to initialize my new printer were not recognized by the printer. I finally purchased a yellow cartridge from a reliable office supplier, and the printer recognized the new cartridge. Now I will have to purchase the other three cartridges before I can initialize and set up. This has cost me three days of work and another trip to replace the defective cartridges. I believe that you should supply a new set of cartridges

I have used this WP-4540 for several months now. I really like the envelope feeder. I have used friendlier scan software. Overall I would recommend this printer/scanner/fax.

Works as Advertised

Bottom line up front: Frustration Free setup. Add "Plug and Play" to the long list of Pros for this printer. It worked as advertised. The installation process was smooth. It was a pleasure to setup on my three wireless Apple computers and the fourth wired Windows PC. Thanks Epson!

Replaced my color laser

Prints quickly, it's a good duplexing printer, and duplexing scanner as well. The WiFi sets itself up pretty quickly. One misgiving - after about three cycles of ink cartirdges it simply stopped printing Cyan. With a couple phone calls (the first time I sat through the entire cycle to get hung up on) I reached customer support and very thankfully they understood what it was doing and arranged to send a replacement. It came quickly but it was packed with empty ink carts and in initiating itself it burned through a lot of my ink. But they WERE good about getting me a replacement. I am HOPING this was a fluke and it returns to worry free and pretty inexpensive color printing. It's a very feature rich device for the money. Let's hope it turns out to be more robust as we age together!!!

Superb All-In-One

Smooth setup. Instructions were clear and concise. We made one mistake in setting it up initially for wireless operation and connected the USB cable too soon which resulted in showing the printer as both serial and network so we had to delete the serial printer in our device list. Not a big deal. This printer is a real work horse. Nicely featured interface for scan/copying and faxing. Best all-in-one yet! Especially like that it uses the same ink cartridges as our WP4020. We've been using Epson ink jet printers in our home office for the past 9 years and would use no other brand.

Excellent printer

I have been using this printer for almost a year, and the quality of the print is amazing. The ink seems to last a long time, and the printed page is of such quality I almost can't tell the difference between this ink and a laser print. The ability to have two paper cartridges, as well as the rear paper feeder is so convenient to my needs. I can use letterhead in one, plain in the other, and specialty forms and envelopes printed from the rear tray. The scanning and fax functions are great and the controls and menus are easy to manage. I work on a Mac and have had just flawless results. Highly recommend as my favorite all-in-one in years. Great value for the price.

Not the same look of the printer

My model is very slow. Takes 3 Min. to copy. It also runs out of ink within 40-50 copies. Have I been cheated on this model?

There are problems with the sheet feeds from both trays. I receive an error message out of paper or paper jam from the lower tray. Also; the unit seems to use a lot of ink; not delivering the 1200 - 2400 page yields i expected. The unit does produce good quality documents, at a respectable rate of speed.
