Leaks Yellow Ink, CHEAP INTERNALS
on September 18, 2014

Worked great for about 6 months then started leaking yellow ink directly on to all prints.
Search the web and look at images of the cheap construction that caused this problem. Cellophane ink wells!? REALLY!!?

Good Printer but Short Life

Overall, this has been a pretty good unit. Print quality is great, even for business presentation. Often times, I will use this model over our color laser. Print speed is very quick and spool up time is quick.
No problems with print quality or speed. Scan, copy, and fax all work as they should.
Biggest concern is the durability. Print head unit began showing lines after about 9 months. Did a cleaning but problem did not improve. Appears a nozzle became clogged as yellow ink flowed out into the lower tray. Finally, trying to print but it would either pick up no paper or would pull 5-7 sheets at a time.
Credit to Epson customer service, though. They walked me through several possibilities before saying they would send a new unit out.
This has been a good unit for us and pleased Epson supports their brand. Hopefully, the replacement unit will last a little longer than the original unit. I would not shy away from this unit over technical problems. It's electronics. Sometimes, they just don't work the way they should. Epson fixed it and we're happy.

Yellow Ink Running....
on May 15, 2013

I purchased my Epson WP-45-40 on 04/27/2012; I went to print today and my paper came out with yellow ink all over it. So I print approx. 8 sheets of paper to clear the yellow in up. Well no luck so I changed the cartridge and to my surprise my next in was yellow ink running all over my paper. But here's the kicker; I also purchased a warranty for the printer. I called and was informed it would take 10 days before I would receive a replacement printer. Oh not just 10 days but 10 business days. WTheck, I'm a small company that completely rely on my printer for production....

Worked terrific for a while, vibrant, however...

Sent an email to Epson. Just waiting to see what happens.
Yellow ink is leaking/squirting on all print jobs. From what I've been reading, this appears to be an ongoing issue that can't be resolved. I assume there is a recall on this model?

Not as good as advertised

The quality of print on plain copy paper is not good. The red looks more like orange and the colors look washed out. On business gloss the colors are better but many graphics are smeared. Duplexing causes a real mess. No amount of adjusting the color match, density or drying time fixes the problems. It does print very well on Kromecoat C1 stock.
If you don't mind the washed out colors, it is very cost effective and easy to use. The fax and scan features work well.
