Also Yellow Ink Leaking just after warranty year
on April 24, 2013

The printer is great until it has the same leaking yellow ink issue that others are having. I also can't find guidance on how to fix this. I will need to toss this out after owning it just 14 months. It is just a personal use printer so there is no excuse for it to die after such a short life. This is clearly a common problem.

Hello,
One of the reasons I chose the EPSON WP-4540 was the low ink factor. Indeed, I have been spending very little on ink, because most of the time I cannot get the printer to print... I've had it about a year.
Maybe it is just my own printer that is a lemon, because up to now I had had good experiences with EPSON.

Epson 4540 - trouble trouble

I had to have 2 replacements sent in 2 years - it spewed yellow ink all over the pages, then it printed everything with a strong red overtone. Now, just a year later (after the 2nd replacement in 2014) it is spewing yellow again!
It was printing letters, etc. fine, and photos were great until "the troubles" started - all three have now had the same type issues. I will not try again and recommend against this printer. Sorry Epson.

Epson WorkForce Pro WP-4540 All-in-One Printer

This all-in-one printer works pretty good except for the scanning part. The scanner takes forever to scan, convert, and save the document in a PDF format. I have not experimented saving in the other formats.

This printer was great. I bought it in March 2012 and had only printed 637 pages total when all of the sudden it starts spraying yellow ink stripes from the top of the page to the bottom. I went to the Epson Support site to see their resolution for this problem ad found nothing. However in the reviews I found where others were experiencing the same problem. I then googled the issue and found review after review describing the same yellow ink problem. I also found a YouTube Video showing the problem in great detail. It will be difficult to buy another Epson printer considering this problem after the printing of only 637 pages. I have also seen others responding that Epson has pulled the replacement parts from parts sites without offering a substitute part that doesn't have the problem. After replacing the ink cartridges, my final cost per page was approximately 85 cents each. !Outrageous! Buyer Beware!!!

I have owned this printer for about 18 months using it sparingly as a personal home printer. It is junk. I purchased this Epson printer because of my success with Epson products, both home and business. They have all served me well.....up to this product. I have run less than a ream of paper through the printer during the time I have owned it and it started printing so light it's barely readable. Replacing the ink cartridges and changing print density had no effect. I have yet to experience the "leaking yellow ink cartridge" syndrome the printer is so noted for but maybe I just didn't use it enough for that problem to appear. In any case, DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER!! Looks like I now have a very expensive paper weight.

Better Than Expected Performance

I bought this printer because we needed a cost effective way to handle all of our office needs. We print about 1k pages monthly and have multiple copy, fax, scanning, and mobile networking needs. We use Apple gear exclusively. This printer has delivered on every front. Set-up is a breeze using wired or wireless. Performance has been fantastic to date. I like the footprint and construction of the paper trays. The LCD is a great touch as are the physical buttons for selecting functions and dialing numbers. I am very satisfied with this printer and the mobility it offers for printing within network and outside of our local network. Epson iprint mobile app is a great add as well.
