Horrible ! Freezes up !

This refrigerator and freezer are horrible ! I’ve make leaks to the bottom on the freezer then it freezes up the motor goes bad changed mine myself 2 times . Never buy this ! Service calls are expensive! I have to defrost it at least 3 times a month for ice build up ! No help from GE! Out of contract.. Ice maker has to be turned off on the bottom only the top works . Horrible product ! When it freezes on the bottom the refrigerator stops blowing cold air !

Terrible fridge and terrible service from GE

I bought the fridge 3 years ago and now I am told it needs a "software update". The top of the fridge is warm and the bottom drawer is freezing. I had to pay a repair tech. $100 to take one look at the fridge and tell me it needs a software update.
This tells me that the fridge has a known problem that was not taken care of by GE. When I contacted GE (Naomi) told me she would discount the part and send it to me overnight. The part was not sent overnight and there were nothing but excuses by GE customer support (Evan). They are not allowed to give e-mail or direct contact phone numbers so there is no consistency with the customer.
I have not had a fridge for two weeks now and GE does not care. This seems like a problem that GE knows about and is trying to sweep under the rug. I will never buy a GE appliance again. I would also never recommend one to anyone.

This refrigerator replaced an older side by side model. I love the features such as the water/ice in the door that you can not only fit a pitcher under but the light automatically comes on when you use it. Great sliding shelf for taller items too. Excellent choice for our family.

We like the layout of the fridge but it’s a lot louder then our old one and last night it decided to freeze everything that was in the fridge.

Newer refrigerators sound different from older refrigerators. Modern refrigerators have more features and use newer technology. Please review page 38 in your manual for normal sounds you will hear.

Nice- BUT where is the butter/dairy tray

I ordered the previous model in October for my kitchen renovation, but unfortunately in December it arrived damaged so they had to send another one. But by then the model was discontinued, so the store replaced it with this the newer version. I am basically happy so far with the exception of the lack of a butter/dairy tray. (a feature I find important and the model I had ordered had) To be honest as much as I love my all new slate appliances, I may have chosen differently had I known then that I would end up without this feature. Probably for some people it is not a big deal, but I guess we each have our pet peeves. I tried to order one for the door, but there is not one that fits this model. :(

Awesome refrigerator with useful additions. The shelves in the door are perfect for the variety of jars and bottles shapes and sizes we have in the kitchen. The drawers are sized for the array of fruits and vegetables one could store. Love the two ice makers and the bottom freezer arrangement. This refrigerator was worth waiting for someone to design!

Best frig EVER

I have used his frig for three months and LOVE everyhing about it...the color(slate) is perfect in my kitchen, the two ice makers are very handy, the two drawers in the freezer work great for organizing my food, and the double doors work great no matter which one is closed first. Highly recommend this product.
