I investigated various sound bars for several months and decided this Sony product would fit my needs. I have several Sony products in my house and have been satisfied with all of them.
This is the first sound bar I have purchased and it was not what I was expecting. While the sound is very clear and can be heard clearly at a good distance, I don't "feel" the sound as I have with speakers in a stereo system. The base and volume seems to have short ranges. The different sound settings like Movie or Music mode are not as distinct as I thought they would be. I should have spent more time comparing it to other systems.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Affordable Hi-res Option

High resolution audio is becoming more and more popular and easy to find, however finding decent equipment that can properly play/decode hi-res content is hard to find and very expensive. I recently purchased this unit and to my surprise it CAN play audio up to 192/24-bit! What a treat to have something to playback my uncompressed audio back. Despite being a 2.1 soundbar, DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD on Blu-ray sounds very spacious and clear. Don't expect your cable/satellite audio to sound as crisp or full however.The only improvement would be to have the subwoofer a bit more powerful.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Pure Disappointment

Brand new ht-ct380 sound bar and woofer. Woofer wouldn't even turn on and sound bar wouldn't pair to Bluetooth. Ruined our family movie night. :(
