Don't waste your money.

Bought this for the Wi-Fi, should have read the other reviews. Wi-Fi on this does NOT work at all. A whole 10 feet from the router, can't find the signal. Sure, HG recommends using a cable, but that isn't why I bought this. Found another brand for half the price with all the features, and it works.
Pros: Performance
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This product only uses Netflix, Pandora, Youtube, CinemaNow, and Vudu. NO HuluPlus or other streaming of any kind. No path for upgrade to any other apps.

Lacks TOSlink Optical Audio & Coaxial out ports.
on December 30, 2014

The exterior design is nice and small, unfortunately the LG-BP340 player has minimal features & lacks sound connectivity options.
Connectivity-
Believe or not, you only get 1 HDMI port on the back of this unit, and that's it! No Audio optical out (TOSlink), No Coaxial out, No analog RCA out, totally unacceptable.
If your TV does not support DTS surround via HDMI & audio out, then you cannot transfer & listen to the 5.1 or 7.1 Surround DTS Master Audio tracks of Premium BluRays & DVDs, you are limited to only 2 channel audio out, which is a total waste for a BluRay setup.
I have an LG 5.1 Home Theater tuned by Mark Levinson, with TOSlink Optical In, but I cannot use it with the BP340 because there's just no way to connect it due to the lack of the TOSlink Optical audio out or Coaxial audio out on the BP340.
On the other hand, If you have a surround receiver that supports audio via HDMI 1.3 or better, then you can enjoy true 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound with DTS Master Audio or Dolby True HD.
WiFi is included, but has really weak reception, there's no LAN port on the back, my 3 year old entry level cell-phone has much better WiFi reception, an external WiFi antenna jack would have done wonders to solve this issue, but it is not present.
On the plus side, you have access to NetFlix,Vudu & YouTube, you can also pair up your smarphone via web so you can input text faster when searching for online content and it works a lot better than using the included remote control.
Picture Quality is also basic for BluRay, the player lacks any options to adjust the picture quality such as sharpness, deepcolor, etc.
Verdict:
The lack of sound connectivity options, weak WiFi reception & minimal set of features make this BluRay player a poor choice.
Pros: easy to use, poor features, no toslink optical audio out, no coaxial out
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent Picture Quality
on June 7, 2015

Picture quality was the most important feature for me and I read several reviews that had positive comments on the LG BP340 picture. Streaming was also a feature I wanted. Picture quality is very good and from what I understand it upscales standard DVDs to HD quality. Not sure if that's true but standard DVDs look very good and when I check the resolution input on my TV it says 1920x 1080/60P. It has a USB port that plays a wide variety of video formats. No Ethernet port :( Wireless streaming was poor until I upgraded the software and now it is very good and that's with my router about 40 feet away directed down a hallway into the living room. Trying to find out if it also upscales video files to HD from the USB port and DVD. The unit is a bit slow in response using the remote but its worth it to me to have the great picture. Not many smart apps but that wasn't what I was looking for. I would recommend an LG Blu-Ray player.
Pros: picture quality

A "Satisfied Customer"..or Am I??

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My very 1st blu-ray plyr. I was so anxious to get home an take it out the box! Not only does my LG BLU-RAY Player have everything from great features to awesome picture & sound. There also was a "fortunate" mishap at the store I purchased it from, & long story short..I got it for a terrific price too!! Its been over 2yrs & its still working like I just took it outta the box. On another note..I DO have a couple concerns an comments. Ima music lover!! An when I learned "Spotify" was one of the APPS that came with my BLU-RAY, made me love it even more. However..I was AND STILL AM upset & disappointed the Spotify App is no longer available on my system. Thee ONLY other concerns are sometimes I havta unplug an restart my system cause it "freezes up". But in fairness, I think that happens due to my Wi-Fi, not the system itself. An whenever this BLU-RAY decides to "call it quits". I know exactly what brand to shop for! ALL IN ALL..The LG Brand, now an in the future are a part of our Family.
Pros: Features/Settings, Quality, easy to use

Needs Work

The video performance is quite good. But I my old unit would "remember" my place on various DVDs even after turning off the power. When I hit the stop OR power button on the new "Smart Player" remote, the DVD restarts at the beginning. Very annoying. And the old one had a "subtitles" button right on the remote so I could go back, read dialog I didn't understand, then shut off the subtitles.
Pros: great picture

Better Than Comparible Sony Player

I feel this player is average compared to most major brand name players. I have already owned 3 other players by major manufacturers. The worst thing about this one is how slow it responds to button commands.
Pros: Quality

Player does not start at disc menu
on August 9, 2014

When starting a movie instead of going to the menu it starts the movie immediately & I have to select disc menu to go back so I can select setup from the menu. Another instance is when I play a DVD that contains a number of episodes with sub menu's such as a TV sitcom, for example, I play a couple episodes & after each episode the player goes to the sub menu, as it should, where I can select what to do next. When it's at a sub menu I turn the player OFF. When I turn the player back on instead of going directly to the main menu or at least the sub menu the player starts playing the first episode bypassing the main & sub menu's altogether. It doesn't even go to the menu for an episode, it just starts playing from the first episode. I have to select "disc menu" to get back to the main menu. I don't like that. What's wrong & how can this be corrected?
Pros: Style/Design, easy to use, Quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
