great backpack for its longevity

This is a great backpack for its longevity, quality build, size, and design. Why?
1) Build/Longevity: I have owned this backpack for three years. In those three years I have used this backpack everyday to go to and from school (five days a week with a laptop and books in it), for hiking, and for travel. I travel a lot and use budget airlines, which means carry-on and no checked luggage (to save money). This thing has survived the clothes, toiletries, books, electronics, and the rigors of air travel (being stuffed under seats, in the overhead, in trunks, out in the woods, etc.).
2) Size/Design: I own a 17.3 inch laptop (Vaio VPCF2290x) and it fits with room to spare. The pockets are great for storing many different types of things: books, clothes, groceries, tools, etc.
3) Quality: I have put this backpack through its paces and it has never let me down. Heavy loads, outdoors (hiking, beach, etc.), planes, and so on. This thing laughs at 5 liters of liquid (I had to carry groceries in this).
4) Comfort: the pads on the back are a nice touch and the straps don't dig into your shoulders even when fully loaded.
5) Targus has a lifetime warranty on all their bags...yes, I said lifetime warranty.

One of the best backpacks in my experience.

This is the perfect backpack for traveling and work. Extremely durable and held up carrying 1012 pounds of equipment and clothes. The layout and pockets are amazing, and it has so many compartments its hard to keep count.
That was the onky drawback, I lost an important document for a couple days till I found that pocket again. Hehe.
The lower back cushion is also a pocket. I own another Targus laptop case, but this backpack holds close to double its capacity. I would say Targus maintains an acceptable level of quality with all the products I've used to date. If you travel with cloths and a laptop, this is the backpack to get.
Keep it going Targus.

This was my moms college backpack before it was mine! It lasted her her last year and then 5 years of lugging it around her classroom and then it lasted me a year before finally getting to the point I want an upgrade! It is still in great condition the handle is a bit busted up, the straps are fraying, but it still holds everything and looks fine! Might end up giving it away to a friend in need of a back up bag.

Best backpack ever

I bought this while going to college back in 2015. I still have this backpack and use it daily. Some wear and tear, some inside zippers are broken. I've beat this thing up, dragging it every where with me and not once have I ever questioned it's reliability. Throughout the years I've gone through numerous backpacks and none of them have held up like this one. I bought this one in January and I was still finding interior pockets in April. I can't stress just how impressed I've been with my Drifter

This is a great, roomy, sturdy backpack. Tons of pockets. It holds my whole load of groceries and then some. No, seriously. The "TSA friendly" laptop pocket works, depending on the TSA person (as everything does); but you can't have anything (even power cables) in that pocket with the laptop (at least according to the TSAgent who explained it to me).

I am writing this review now because a friend asked where I got it. I couldn't help but continue to share my love of the bag. So looked up how much I paid then decided to write a review. I love it and have had had this bag almost seven years and carry it every day and take on through airports, work, etc. I don't carry my 17" laptop in it everyday but it fits in it just fine. I've been known to even pack two laptops in it with a tablet and all their accessories and held up just fine. I am not rough on it maybe that's why it lasted so long. The only malfunction I had with it is one of the little metal grommets for the vent holes popped off, that's it. Straps are fine the zippers are fine. Great bag.

The Targus Drifter II is wonderful.

The Targus Drifter II has some great features and lot's of compartiments that can hold alot more than just your laptop. I was surprised it could even contain my large DSLR camera with the lens detached and a lens, together with my 13" macbook pro and a Book.. it still has lots of space to hold my sports wear, external harddrive etc. The Drifter II feels solid and very strong, when carried on my back it feels comfortable thanks to the ergonomic padding they have added on the back and the straps. I needed a good backpack because I really do not want damage to my macbook, that the bottom has a stiffened armored solid feel and water tight protection also made me choose this backpack. The features and quality feel
Pros: solid built quality, alot of different compartiments, multi prupose, comfortable on the back, water resistant bottom, affordable
Cons: for some it might feel as a large backpack, forgetting where you put things ;)
I would recommend this to a friend!
