This movie is one that has stood the test of time. If you truly want a masterpiece in your collection, be sure to pick this up in 4k. You can't miss with one. Great acting, movie seamlessly captures major events during that time period and has Gump in the center or on the fringe of most if not all of them

Great movie. Legendary and Tom Hank's best IMHO. Problem with this set is the digital features. You have to go through Paramount and pick a vendor to use. I chose VUDU since I dont use iTunes. I have VUDU connected to my Movies Anywhere account so I can watch it on all my devices. This movie, of course, does not come over to all the other services. Only watchable on Vudu. Lame. They need to get rid of these exclusive viewing permission rules. Had the same problem with buying movies on Xfinity.

This is one of the most overrated & corniest films I've ever seen. The title character (Tom Hanks) is a nice if somewhat (mentally) slow person who goes through life from childhood, to his combat experience in Vietnam, to meeting various celebrities (including several presidents), & even settling down with his childhood sweetheart (Robin Wright).
There are some nice moments here. Gary Sinese is great as Lt. Dan, & the moment where Forrest inadvertedly phones in the Watergate break in is funny.
However, the excessive sweetness gets bothersome after awhile. The voice utilized by the great Tom Hanks doesn't take long to become like nails on a chalkboard.
I'm all for sweet movies, but there is such a thing as overkill &, to me, this film, although not bad per se, is such an example.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
