The Ultimate Workhorse - Luv It!

I've owned and used this printer daily for 6 years! I'm a photographer and use it often for Client prints. NO PROBLEMS - ever! It's a tank and prints lawlessly - all sizes. Luv it.
To rebut complaints: Use only Canon ink. Connecting to anything Apple (Mac) is often glitchy.

This a good replacement for the Pro 100. It still prints CDs. It does away with the photo cyan and magenta cartridges. It doesn't seem to waste as much color ink when printing in black and white mode.

This replaced the ip6600D that I had for ten years before it finally died. The i8720 looks stylish, and I love the ability to print on larger paper. I like being able to completely close the printer so I don’t have to worry about dust or pet hairs getting inside.
The photos I have printed from my 20D look amazing. I have several photos hanging on my walls, and they look like professional prints. The pigment inks let you decoupage prints onto canvas or other surfaces for craft projects, without the colors running or bleeding.
This printer seems to get into terrible disagreements with Photoshop if the file color is set to RGB. Standard print will cause colors to come out way too dark. The print profile that looks the best for our RGB files is BJ Color Printer Profile 2000, which I think was in the list from my ip6600D. Runner-up was Generic Monitor, which I believe came with Photoshop, but the red & orange are still a tad too dark.
I absolutely love Canon products, and I’m hoping this printer will last ten years like my old one did. Canon may want to consider updating the drivers for when RGB graphics are printed, but that’s not enough of an issue to lower my rating.

I am a Canon junky. I have not had trouble with printers, ink or paper. Costs more but trouble free. Now for this printer. You can print on DVDs which is easy and with included softwre can be creative. Cartridges are larger than normal but can be purchased with extra ink. Machine is fast not noisy nd prints beautifully. Ink comes with machine but doesn't last long. Order ink in advance an d have on hand. Machine is large so make room for it. Canon included software is getting better and is now very useful.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, High Quality Output, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: Large Footprint

My wife and I bought this model because our son has one, he has one for his small business. As it turns out we were correct in buying it, we keep both running all the time. Also we bought extra ink cartridges thinking we would need them right away, but we are still printing from the ink cartridges that it came with. Nice job Canon. We get a lot of compliments on our printing. People will ask who does your printing? Again nice job Canon. Then you tell them it was done at home on a Canon printer, their next question is how much is the printer? So we are getting high quality results from this printer.
