Great quality prints. Eats ink fast but it’s worth it. The software is absolutely terrible for who this printer is made for. The software is so basic and limited that it’s frustrating, I’d thought canon would have something better to pair with such a great machine. The software has the functionality but it’s pretty poorly set up and not at all intuitive. This is a pro-sumer level printer and as such should have something more powerful print handling.

So far, so good...

Bought this as a replacement for an older Canon that started leaking black ink. It was time to go.
I wanted a good photo-quality printer first. I also do everyday printing (emails, articles, etc.).
This thing does not disappoint. The photos are beautiful. I have one picture of my grandchildren in the ocean. They are wearing bright orange shirts/trunks. It's beautiful. No running between the orange and the aqua and the white. Very crisp all around in what I would think would be a hard photo to print.
I haven't tried black and white photos yet.
Regarding everyday docs: It does fine. We keep it in draft mode to keep down ink use.
I have had somewhat of a hard time using the wi-fi connection with my laptop. (Our desktop is hard-wired to it.) I hope I have finally got it right. The instructions on setting up the wi-fi capability are a little confusing, in my opinion.
Summary: if you are looking for a great photo printer that will do everyday docs, this is the one.

I purchased the Canon IP8720 when my previous Canon printer started to fail. I contacted Canon directly, and their representative was very helpful, listening to what I wanted and sending me in the right direction. The order department was also helpful, and I received my new Canon printer PLUS many bonuses, in record time. The speed is great and the quality so much better than my previous printer, especially for photographs. Very happy with the printer AND with Canon!

Easy to use on a Mac

Love the way this printer prints and set up is easy on a Mac via wireless. (Make sure you use the Canon IJ network driver, though. That way you have access to all your paper sizes). It is also easy to print 12x12" on this printer.

Excellent For Both Photos & Printing

I've had this printer for over 18-months. I use it for professional photo printing as well as for regular printing. The ink which I use is of the highest quality on very expensive photo paper including Metallic as well as on Canon brand paper. It is used for a number of prints from invoices to receipts to articles and all are quite superior. No qualms about it whatsoever. Then again, I've been using Canon printers since 2002 and only purchase those with individual ink tanks. I've printed nearly 15,000 documents and close to 1,000 photos with it. Haven't used the CD/DVD print system yet.
Because of my experience, I purchased another one as a birthday gift for a friend.

I just purchased this printer for graphic design work. I am currently a student and needed a good printer for a reasonable price. This printer produces gorgeous photos and also handles graphics well.

I have printed several 13x19 prints with the iP8720 printer and LOVE the quality I am getting. Personally tho, I feel linking the printer wirelessly is far more involved than it should be, and for now I have opted to connect it via USB.
