Disappointment, huge disappoinment

Disclaimer: My daughter is underage for the LeapPad Platinum, 15 months
I bought this for my daughter for Christmas. She watches Nursery Rhymes on YouTube, so we were looking for a durable pad she can watch videos on when we are at dinner or in the car, she'd grow into the more advanced learning stuff as she got older. I chose this one because at the very least the package says web browsing. I thought great, even if we can't download the YouTube Kids app, we can via the web. That was wrong. They use of the term web browsing very loosely. The browsing is strictly limited to some preselected videos chosen by Leap Frog. So far the ones I have watched aren't that great, or super short.
Beyond that.... Playing videos via the web offers no control of the video being played. Once you select a video it goes full screen on playback. If the screen is touched during playback, the video stops and it backs out of full screen until you touch play again. This function, is different from watching videos you purchase from the app store. Hmm, wonder why that is? As I stated above My daughter is under the recommended age group, some of the blame here is mine. But that doesn't excuse the limitations or the functionality flaw.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Perfect for entertain kids on the road.

My kids really love their LeapPad Platinum. My husband and I have been impressed with the quality of construction, the durability and the functionality of the device. It has held up well to all 3 of our kids playing with it! We love the variety of games and apps available and are considering buying a second one!

LeapPad Platinum

My daughter started out with the LeapPad 2. It quit working this year, so her uncle upgraded her to a LeapPad Platinum. She loves the bigger screen. She says it is easier to play, and better for watching videos than her old one. She loves the included app's, seems as though more was included in this one than her previous LeapPad 2. The only Con I have about it, is the location of the power button. It is on the edge instead of on the front with the other buttons, which makes it far too easy to turn it off in the middle of playing! My daughter is getting used to it, and isn't turning it off quite as much, but it still could have been put in a better location. Overall we love the product.

Wonderful Educational Tablet That is Durable!

Having the best tech toys are not only important to adults but to kids as well. So when I was invited by leapFrog to try out their new LeapFrog LeapPad Platinum tablet, I knew Riley and I were going to have a blast! LeapFrog never fails to deliver great tablets and other technology for kids - and that's still true with their Platinum tablet and new Imagicards!
First is the new LeapFrog LeapPad Platinum tablet, the biggest, best, and toughest LeapPad ever! You still have a library of 1,000+ age-appropriate, educator-approved games, apps, eBooks, videos and more - with added awesomeness included! The screen is a 7" high-resolution, multi-touch capacitive screen with a fast high-performance processor to offer the biggest learning experiences. It also includes LeapSearch, which is a kid-safe web browser to let kids explore content that they will love. The content is handpicked by LeapFrog's team of learning experts and features expanded parental settings for fine-tuning.
Something that is always of concern to me is durability. The LeapPad Platinum is LeapFrog's most durable tablet ever. It has a shatter-safe screen and a wrap-around bumper that has been thoroughly drop-tested, impact-tested and compression-tested in the LeapFrog Quality Lab.
As far as space on the Platinum tablet goes, it includes 8 GB memory to hold up to 40,000 photos or 100+ game apps. My 2 year old loves it

My parents bought this for my daughter for Christmas as she was using her dad's tablet and I was concerned about her access to the internet and the durability of the tablet itself. I was worried that she would not be happy getting a new tablet, but that was not the case. As soon as she opened her present she was so excited. Once i had it charged and set up she just sat down and ignored her dad, brothers, and myself and immediately delved into the LeapPad Platinum. She loves the pet shop and laughed so hard at how the animals jump. For the free game we picked the one that teaches emotions, which she isn't sure how to play yet, but seemed to enjoy when I helped her. She's only had it a day, but I believe she is going to love it for a long time. My only complaint thus far is that there are not options for free games, as buying a handful quickly adds up.

I received a LeapPad Platinum in exchange for an honest review.
LeapFrog does it again. Every time I get a new LeapPad product I think to myself, this is so amazing there is no way they can make anything better….but every year they come out with something bigger and better!
FEATURES I LOVE ABOUT THE LEAPPAD PLATINUM….
I love that the device is all about education and helping your kids learn. It also works with your child’s learning level.
You can set a time limit on the Platinum and it will tell the child it is time to be done, and then it won’t let them use it for a certain amount of time after it has been used.
I love that you don’t have to log into your account on a computer and hook it up to you main desktop to activate games. You can login through the parents center directly from the LeapPad Platinum.
You can download the games that you have downloaded to your other device to this device so that you don’t have to buy the same game again if you already purchased it for one device.
You can play interactively with a friend who has another LeapPad device and have your pets play together.
I love the Kid-Safe Web! LeapPad Platinum features Wi-Fi with a kid-safe web browser that lets kids explore content they love, but that is totally harmless. When I first heard about the web option it stressed me out a bit, but he kids can’t just go search online. With LeapSearch, kids can browse age-appropriate content, handpicked by our team of learning experts and features parental settings for easy fine-tuning by you. For the most part it’s all educational and learning features.
When you buy the LeapPad Platinum it comes with 6 Imagicards for more interaction and game play fun.

Great Learning Tool

Disclosure: Although I was given a LeapPad Platinum with Imagicard all opinions are 100% my own.
My boys really enjoyed the LeapPad Platinum because it for one was very durable. Having boys who move around a lot, they were comfortable with the durability. It now has a shatter safe screen and a wrap around bumper.
The learning materials provided for the children are interactive and age appropriate. If you want to work and feel "guilt free" that your child is learning as you work….this is the tablet to have!

Favorite product yet

This is our new favorite leapfrog product. My son gets limited technology time during the day, and he picks this each time! It has saved us on road trips this summer. It is light and compact. It is durable. And he loves all the games! I love the screen is bigger this time - a big improvement. We are really working on our letters and numbers this summer, and I have been struggling with a fun way to engage him to do that. This has been such a good tool to make that happen. Highly recommend!
