Great sound in a small package
on December 7, 2015

We have this for about a month and absolutely cant live without it now!
Pros:
> Great sound in a small package, very crisp sounding and can shake up the neighbors!
> The SoundTouch app is nice and easy to use
> Attractive design ( we have the white one)
Wish List
> Support for iTunes
> An "Optical" in connector - Really missing it!
Minor Glitches
> The Bluetooth automatically pairs to the last connected device, it may be a hassle at times, in case we want to pair from another device, we have to find the previous device first , disconnect and then connect with the new device - Wish AirPlay was also supported like the previous version.
> The new Mac OS El Capitan, ends up waking up the System whenever the Mac is turned on - Don't know if it is an issue with Apple or the update of the app for the new OS.
> The App does not browse iTunes library on a Windows machine

Great for Bass... a little too much Bass
on July 4, 2016

I purchased this item and enjoyed it completely -- it does everything as advertised. There are two things that I didn't like.
1) There is too much bass. If all you care about is bass, and don't mind sacrificing some high notes, then get these speakers. But if you like some high notes in your music, then the bass on this system will dampen it enough to be noticeable. Unfortunately, you cannot control the bass on the app, or on the speakers itself (by pressing a button or turning a dial). Remedy for BOSE: Allow us to control the bass and the treble by using a button or dial.
2) You cannot play music from your phone as easily as it looks. The only thing you can do on your phone is use the app to select which station to switch to (Pandora, iheartRadio, etc.). Your computer can be a station too, which is the only way you can play your own personal music, but there is a catch to using your computer. You can only play music that you have put in a playlist -- you cannot use your phone to browse through the computer and select songs, the songs must already be in a playlist. This means no impromptu songs. Remedy for BOSE: Allow us to use our phones to browse our computers for music in any folder.
3) No YouTube, or songs from an Internet browser. You cannot search the internet and stream music from a browser. You must use the 6 stations they provide, which does not include YouTube or Vimeo. Remedy for BOSE: Get YouTube and allow streaming from a browser.

Sound is phenomenal

Sound is unbelievable coming from such a small package. Bass is impressive enough I have had several people tell me I have to have a sub hidden somewhere. I tell them to just put your hand on the unit if you don't think the sound is coming from it. Everyone is impressed. A little pricey but well worth it.

Sounded great when it would turn on

I've had the Bose SoundTouch 30 for less than a year. I used it in my office. It sounded great. After about 6 months it took longer and longer to boot up. Now it won't turn on even after hard and soft rebooting. I can't get it to turn on to even try to update software. Bose knows sound quality but software is clearly not a core competency. And there's not way to even just turn it on and use it old school with wires. It's just a big heavy paperweight now. This is my first, and likely my last Bose experience. I've seen too many reviews citing similar issues. How did the SoundTouch software ever make it through testing.

It's great, when it works...

It has great sound for something so small and it works just fine with internet radio. But, I rarely have the chance to listen to my music. I work long hours so it is not often that I have the chance to listen to my music at home, which is the problem. Everytime I turn it on, it spends a long time (up to 30 min.) synchronising with the computers, time in which I often decide to do something else rather than wait for it to work. My wife, on the other hand, doesn't even try to use it because of this. Maybe I wouldn't have this problem if I left everything on, all day, for my fish to listen.

Hello Elimo,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are glad to hear that you are enjoying the sound of the system when it's working, but disappointed to hear that you're having trouble with the music library indexing time. We definitely want both you and your wife to be able to enjoy your music promptly so you can relax after a long day of work.

Indexing of the music library will occur whenever the SoundTouch music server service is started, typically when the computer is turned on or when the SoundTouch app has been opened when the service was stopped. However, that should not take more than 10 minutes. We have some great resources available online including this article at SoundTouch.com:

If you continue to have trouble after trying the steps above, we are here to help. We have sent an email to learn more so that we can better assist, but if you would like to speak to us by phone please contact us at 800-905-2156. We are available Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 9pm EST and Saturday 9am to 7pm EST.

Missing AirPlay and Apple Music
on January 28, 2017

I bought ST 30 based upon past experiences with Bose products. It seems Bose is struggling to make their products relevant. I was disappointed to learn their is no support for Airplay. Bluetooth is okay but seems ST 30 does not automatically connect via BT as your earphones do. That said, my preference is WiFi and Apple AirPlay. Therefore I see no option but to return this product.
