Learning to cook with a gas

After 56 years, I am learning to cook with a gas range. I am enjoying the experience EXCEPT for the following two reasons. #1 I am hearing impaired and the timer is too soft for me to hear. #2 The bottom storage drawer falls off the track when pulled out. Other than those two issues, I am enjoying my "playtime" in the kitchen!

Near Professional...

I am happy with the new range. It's very near a professional restaurant stove with the open burners and being able to bake with the convection option or just gas. My downside is the griddle which works fine, but it would have been nice to have the reversible cast iron griddle as a standard feature. Cleaning this is sooo easy!! Thank you, thank you for that feature alone!!

Bought a couple of months ago and so far it is great. Especially the griddle. My husband, who would never eat pancakes, now wants them every day!! Fast and easy!

The range I was using was 14 years old; working - just underperforming. This GE range has really brought me into the 21st CY!. The burners are larger, heat evenly, and therefore, cook faster. Yes, the light works when the door is not open - push the button on the top of the range. The oven has baked perfectly, even heat, consistent. The interior and top are larger than my former unit, better work space, interior storage. The bottom drawer is designed for lightweight item storage. I had an extra rack that was narrow, and my pot tops can fit into it at an angle.This keeps them from shifting around, avoiding breakage on glass tops. Style wise, my appliances are all now SS front. The black top of the range is easy to keep clean, looks more professional. My kitchen style is relaxed, off white tile and cupboards with black accents, SS/black small appliances, wooden countertops, "artsy", and colorful accents and accessories.

Better than expected!

We bought this one because our old one died on us. I looked at Consumer Report and this one was rated high. So, no brainer. Just couldn't afford the higher priced one, plus it didn't come in black. I was concerned that I wouldn't like it as far as looks. Much better in person! The quality and features are no disappointment. Highly recommend you purchasing this particular brand. I have the same brand in my refrigerator. It is high quality too. Also recommended by Consumer Reports.

This replaced an Economy model that came with our new house - MUCH better cooking, and the griddle in the middle is the bomb!
