Nice Gas Range

I purchased this GE double over gas range in Oct. 2015 and never even cooked on the center grate (not the griddle) and it already cracked and broke. I am dealing with the appliance store for a no charge replacement.

A little disappointed...

I grew up cooking on a gas range and finally desired that during a remodeling project we were going to have one. I've always thought that an electric range was such a waste of fuel/time with the long warm up and the remaining heat after the food is done. The range we selected looks great and I have no complaints about the top burners. The issues I have are with the ovens. First I do not see any cooking advantage to the convection oven over the standard one. I can hear the low hum of the fan to circulated the heat to provide the faster cooking time, but it seems of little use. We wanted the convection feature to replace a toaster oven size unit we had on a counter top. As far as com pairing the two the smaller one works so much better that it remains on the counter. Save the money on the range with the convection oven and buy a counter top one. Of course you will be limited by the size but cooking for two it is not worth the extra money. The other disappointment is the heating of the oven. Brand new I think that the thermostats is defective. Our first use was a disaster with under cooked food and/or burned bottoms. I noted following the first use that when I returned to the oven to change the temperature to a higher setting that the display showed the warm up started at a temperature 75 degrees less than what it was set for. As example, I moved it from 375 to 425 and when the burner started the display showed it was heating from 300 to move up to the 425, not 375. This is what I believe is the issue with the under cooking/burnt bottom problem. It is not maintaining the set temperature through the cooking process. I have yet to take on this issue as we live in a small town, purchased the range from a big box store. It was hard enough to get it delivered and set up let alone now to get someone out to look into the problem. I wish that our local appliance stores had not gone out of business, leaving us with the only choice of the box stores to get a new appliance.

Really like....BUT be forwarned...

When you turn the oven on to...say...350 degrees, it doesn't really reach that temperature. I learned this the hard way when I was entertaining, and our meal was delayed by over half an hour. The manual says to not expect this stove to bake like your old one. But 350 degrees is 350 degrees, no matter which stove you're using, as far as I'm concerned. My husband had to "re-calibrate" the ovens (which is actually explained in the manual, so the company expects this to happen - really?). The bottom oven works fine now. We haven't fixed the top one. I don't think this is something we should have to deal with in a brand new product. It's a stove. When I turn it on 350 degrees, it should heat to 350 degrees, right out of the box, without having to figure it out I. Also, both oven lights went out within two weeks, which seems to be a common complaint, according to other reviews. I will say, however, that I LOVE the griddle. Wouldn't buy another stove without it.

Love this oven!

We have an in-home bakery, so we needed a double over to be able to bake many pans at a time. We had to adjust our normal cook time a little bit with this oven, but I think that is to be expected when you are changing appliances. We have had this oven for 5 months now and we have loved it. It works great for our business and for our personal needs! I really like that the grates are dishwasher safe.

Love the double oven. Griddle is a great feature. We have used it more than we thought we were going to.

Thought it would be a lot better

I replaced my 20 year old oven with this one. I thought boiling time and pre-heat time would be a lot quicker. It actually takes this oven longer to pre-heat than my old one. The double oven is awesome-being able to cook 2 things with different temps at once--totally worth it. The griddle is a great feature--just wondering how long the non-stick will last. The instructions are very hard to understand. Overall, it cooks food but I don't know if I would buy it again, if I moved, for instance. Would totally buy a double oven again.
