LOVE LOVE my Slate Stove!

I saw the new GE Slate appliances at my son and daughter-in-law's home last Thanksgiving. I fell in love with them! I decided at that moment to remodel my kitchen.
I have enjoyed this new gas stove since the day it was installed! It replaced a separate gas cook top and oven. The center grilling burner is well used. I have made grilled cheese sandwiches and love grilling veggies. The oven heats quickly and is spot on with temperature. It is easy to clean. Cannot say enough good things about my GE stove!!

GE historically makes great gas ranges. Slate finish is attractive. Oblong center burner has limited utility. Controls are straight forward and cooking results excellent

Large cooktop

I have been waiting for time off work to get to shop for a new stove, my other was 30 years old ,could barely open the oven door all the way and a front burner had melted, so it was way past time. The panel on the oven is push button and preset for 350 degrees with an up or down arrow for higher or lower oven temps,very new age....I just love it and can't wait to get started baking!

I like the overall appearance of this stove especially the top. It's like having extra counter space. I can sit a hot pot anywhere on it. I enjoy using the center grill section for great grilled cheese sandwiches or steaks. The oven racks are very level. I really appreciate the broiler being located at the top of the oven instead of below the main oven. Nice storage area for baking sheets and broiler pan.

I had a wall oven and hated it. This oven works great and I love it. Plenty of room for cooking many trays of food.

Cons
1) As other reviewers have mentioned, the storage drawer is VERY cheaply made. The metal is put together so crooked on mine that the whole drawer is warped and won't open or close properly. Also, it slides on very cheap plastic clips that are only held in place by one rivet. I can see those breaking within a month and then I wonder how the drawer will sit. I've preferred GE for years and this is beneath their usual workmanship.
2) The burner control knobs are VERY easy to bump and turn on accidentally. If you are going to the trouble of having an anti-tip bracket installed, it would be prudent to address these burner controls.
3) It would be nice to have the option for the oven light to go on when you open the door. But I'm not finding this to be a big deal.
4) According to the installers, there is no cut-out on the back of this range to allow room for the gas connector, so the range is several inches away from my wall and looks strange sticking out so far from the counter tops on either side. Not to mention that things will easily fall behind the range. My last GE range had an opening and installed almost flush against the wall. I'm going to check with the GE service guy when he comes out.

1) The center oval burner is awesome! Perfect for evenly heating a griddle.
2) The burner grates are really sturdy and the continuous cook-top they create is attractive and very safe for moving pans around.
3) Nice big oven window!
4) The sizes, ranges of power and positioning of the burners is great and gives me a lot of flexibility when cooking many things at once.
5) Its a very nice looking range.
6) LOVE having the broiler in the over.

My old GE range had the broiler drawer in the bottom. What a pain. But it was the only thing about it that I didn't like. It lasted 23 years! I hope this one comes close. I have only had it a couple weeks but I cook a lot. Will update my review when I've used it longer.
