Easy Use, Elegant Design, Decent Sound and Compact
on December 7, 2015

I run a community indoor cycling program that is located in a large, mixed-use open space on a stage, so I needed an affordable sound solution that didn't have lots of wires, amps, towers or large speakers (equipment must be put away after classes). I called Bose and spoke to a very helpful and lovely salesman, who himself takes Spinning classes and advocated my buying this SoundTouch 20 Series III for our class use. While he was correct that the unit (which he said he has two of in his own home) is compact (one of my criteria), has good sound, and is easy to use, it unfortunately does not produce enough bass for my purposes. Spinning classes are very high-energy and ideally the music must be at a high volume with good quality, no distortion (which the unit, to be fair, doesn't do), and lots of bass. This unit might be suitable for a large living room or kitchen, but in my opinion it does not fill the size of a (medium-sized) theatre stage well. I am likely returning it and purchasing the SoundTouch 30 instead, as the latter unit has a sub-woofer - which I'm pretty sure the 20 does not. We need Bluetooth connectivity versus a dock, since different teachers use different mp3 players (iPhone, Android, old/new iPods, etc.). I'm hoping that projects better in an approximate 30'x20 space.

Hello CycleMaplewood,
Thank you for posting such thorough comments about your experience with the Bose SoundTouch 20III. We agree with your conclusion, given the size of your space and the activity level within that space the SoundTouch 30III is going to be a better choice.
We hope you'll follow up with your impressions when once you're enjoying the new system.

Great at first

This has good sound and worked well at first, then over a few months the connection started dropping out and I had to rely on aux input. Now it wont even start up. A lot of money for a product that breaks down after a short time.

Love the sound, but connection has problems

The sound on this speaker is wonderful, and on my lat computer setup was very easy and all worked great. I bought a new computer with a smaller solid state drive as my c: drive, so moved my iTunes library to my d drive which had plenty of room. It turns out the app for this speaker can't find your iTunes library on anything other than a c: drive. So I can no longer listen to my thousands of songs in iTunes on my Bose. Very disappointing! I can now just stream from various internet sources, but no longer play the music that I actually own.

GREAT SPEAKER BUT NEEDS APPLE MUSIC SUPPORT
on January 15, 2017

Great design, amazing sound quality and pretty easy to use and setup. The only thing that this speaker needs is support for Apple Music so I can play my music from my account. Right now I have to use Bluetooth to play my music library (which works great). But if Apple Music was supported for this product, I would be able to use the presets and more of the features(without just using pandora or iHeartRadio). Please solve this issue, I'm sure many Apple Music users would benefit from this. Thank you!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] You cannot play iTunes vía SoundTouch app. They don’t have the option for iTunes services and cannot use AirPlay

Hello Despinel,
Thanks for leaving a review of the SoundTouch 20 wireless speaker.
You are correct, you cannot use iTunes with the SoundTouch app, but you can, however, use a wide range of other music services with Spotify and Deezer being among these. You can find out all about the SoundTouch app here: https://bit.ly/2kFA4hH.

Sound quality is great. The speaker frequently loses WiFi connection. I have to go through reconnection process about 2 times a week. Very annoying. None of my other devices have this problem.

Hello! We truly appreciate you taking the time to review the SoundTouch 20 wireless speaker. It's wonderful to hear that you enjoy the sound quality and appearance of this speaker but I am sorry that you have been experiencing some connection issues. I would like to recommend a reset of your router. This can be done by removing power for 30-60 seconds. Also, please ensure that the speaker is running the latest firmware version. https://bose.life/31Wqebr Wi-Fi connections are much more complex than Bluetooth, therefore, It would be great if you could contact our support team to look into this further. Your router settings may need to be adjusted which our team can certainly advise with. https://bose.life/2WZOG8Z
