A big step backward

I had the note 4 for about a year untill it was stolen from me. The only replacement i could get was the note 5 becuase they discontinued the 4. I thought i was getting an upgrade, but i was disappointed to learn i was getting a downgrade. The note 5 offers no advantages over the 4. In fact it proved to only remove features i have grown to love. There is no more inferred blaster so it can no longer function as a remote for a tv. The back is sealed shut so there is no removable battery and there is NO SD CARD SLOT. The lack of a memory slot is probably the biggest disappointment. Aditional memory is one of the main reasosns anyone gets an android but for some reason its been removed. It seems as though the note 5 is just an iphone with samsung parts and an S pen. If I wanted an iphone i would have gotten an iphone. Even the bottom bumper is a complete copy of the iphone. I seriously hope samsung gets their head back in the game for the note 6.
That being said, what the note 5 does do it does well. It is still a good peice of tech, just not what i personally thought an upgrade would look like.
Pros: Bright display, Built-in speakers, s pen functionality, large screen
Cons: no removable battery, no sd card slot, removal of ir blaster
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Over stylish but still one of the best android phones

The Note5 makes a clear change in design to favor style over function, to the detriment of some features. The Note series is more expensive and targeted toward high end users with the stylus and larger screen. While previous note models had an emphasis on usability but were still well built, the Note5 adopts the style first design of its primary competitors. Some of the design choices, such as the ability to insert the pen backward and break the device (requiring it to be sent to factory for repair) are alarming given the over emphasis of style.
The Samsung Pay service works well and provides more places to pay but is more limited currently as to the banks supported. It is much better than other services available on the phone as it requires confirmation for all purchases.
Samsung continues to provide an overall better UI than the standard android phone interface, but many features have been removed. MHL was very useful for connecting to a TV reliably and works with any TV, this has sadly been removed. The power saving options have been reduced, and thus the phone can use its mid-size battery very quickly. There continues to be a wide range of junk pre-installed; it would be nice in an era of buying a phone and service separately to be able to purchase a carrier agnostic phone directly from Samsung. I don't miss the SD card expansion capability, but forgoing it for a glass body does not make sense considering the need for a bumper case around the glass anyway. What good is an over emphasized pretty body when it is covered with a full case?
It remains one of the top tier devices, but there are a lot of compromises compared to previous phones. The battery discharges quickly with use and there is no option to have a bigger one so this negates the thinness of the device. I've also had some trouble with the dialer going on hold accidentally many times, so while I can use a different one I should not have to.
I would hope to see an unlocked model next year that prioritizes usage over style.
Pros: samsung pay, stylus
Cons: battery size, customization, ergonomics, over-stylish
I would recommend this to a friend!

Galaxy Note 5

I'll start my review by saying that I'm a little biased when it come to Samsung products, because of past experiences I tend to buy most of my electronics from the Samsung brand, I am very pleased with the Note 5 it is like having a small tablet, It's big enough to watch movies on and So far the phone features are very good, The only two things that are somewhat of a draw back for me is there is no slot for a memory card and I purchased the 32gig, Which is an easy fix :Download pictures, and files not needed on the phone to a computer, The phone does come in a 64 gig. Secondly the phone comes sealed which means you can't just pop the back off to access the battery; too the best of my knowledge, But so far my phone holds a charge for about 24 hrs with medium to heavy use. Overall in my opinion this is an excellent phone, Samsung will have to do some pretty amazing things with the Note 6 if there ever is one.
Pros: Realistic color, Bright display, Built-in speakers, Durable, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

Super fast processor, excellent camera, video,so comfortable to hold and just can't find a negative thing about this phone. The deal breaker for me is the S Pen I also really liked the Galaxy Edge + but I'm a huge fan of the S Pen previously had iPhone 4s then traded in for Galaxy Note 3 and got hooked on pen.
Pros: Realistic color, Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: none

A Flagship phone worthy of the title!

The Note 5 changed my opinion on Samsung phones completely. My first exposure to Samsung phones was with the Galaxy S5, and to be completely honest I hated it. TouchWiz was massively bloated and intrusive, the build quality felt much cheaper than my previous phones, and I had to have the phone replaced twice back to back due to charging and battery issues. I was not a fan to say the least and I moved on to a different Android phone rapidly. It was my fianceé who when she needed a new cell phone decided she wanted a Samsung, and after some debate between the Note 5 and the Edge S6+ she settled in on the Note 5. TouchWiz was scaled back, the build quality felt far more premium, and she absolutely loved it. When my opportunity for an upgrade came about, I decided I'd give Samsung a try again myself and purchased a Note 5 as well. I have not regretted it in the slightest. The display is gorgeous, the processor is powerful, and it has more RAM than basically any other phone out there. This is also my first experience with the S-Pen and I'm really enjoying it as well, especially using it to jot down quick notes or shopping lists. The only drawbacks I currently see with the phone are a slightly disappointing speaker, the lack of an SD card slot, a removable battery, and lack of waterproofing. None are deal-breakers for me, obviously, but they are features I'd love to see and would make the phone even more impressive. The lack of a removeable battery is offset by the excellent rapid charging feature, which will charge you from almost zero to a very usable level quite quickly. The speaker isn't terrible, but with other phones beginning to offer stereo speakers it is a bit underwhelming. The lack of a SD-card slot is a mild annoyance, though I've offset it with plenty of cloud storage for my documents and streaming services for music. The lack of waterproofing, which was a great feature on the S5 is something I really do miss, as I'd grown very accustomed to the feature which offers extra peace of mind. Overall, I'd recommend the Note 5 to anyone without hesitation, and I look forward to seeing where the Note line goes from here!
Pros: Realistic color, Bright display, Durable, Lightweight, powerful processor, very impressive display, 4gb of ram, s-pen is excellent
Cons: lackluster speaker, no expandable storage, no waterproofing, no removable battery
I would recommend this to a friend!
