Looks good but falling apart

I love the way this microwave looks and it had good reviews. We have only had this microwave 4months and a random piece of the door broke off (it doesn’t affect the working) and now the filter door just fell off! I don’t get it…it’s two very random things. It’s only my husband and I and we don’t even use the microwave every day and it’s falling apart. I don’t know if I would purchase this model again. In the picture notice the filter door and on the door corner piece broken.

Died just over one year and outside of warranty

This microwave was the biggest disappointment of all my GE products that have died. Just after 13 months the microwave dies and my whole home extended warranty (never do business with Select Home Warranty out of NJ either) won't cover it saying it is too expensive to repair. Never buying another GE product.

This is my third GE Mircowave the second was purchased in 2017 and lasted just 5 yrs. it was cheaper to purchase a new Mircowave then to repair the old one. To me the life expectancy is a little short considering the mircowave is only in use 6 months out of the year with only two family member.

Poor Quality

STAY AWAY!!!! Microwave is very poor quality! Microwave only lasted 3 years. Made of cheap plastic. Plastic housing where filter goes just fell off. Started randomly tripping circuit breaker. Door sensors tested good.

Stylish, Nice features, has a design flaw

The synchronization features are super handy. Not having to set the microwave clock made this purchase initially worth it. Having the light / hood fan come on automatically when the paired stove burner turns on is a feature I absolutely love. The fan / light can also be programmed to shut off after the burners are all off (delay timer is adjustable). There is a major flaw in the design of the door, door handle and associated electronics. The door is extremely flexible, this causes issues with the safety switches over time. Due to the flex, all three safety switches do not activate at the same time. This causes arcing through the switch, eventually causing it to fail. The assembly that holds the safety switches has significant play in its position which makes the problem much worse. I did not expect this type of deficiency in such a high end microwave.

The unit does offer a surface light. To operate, press SURFACE LIGHT once for low light, twice for high light or a third time to turn the light off.

It's DEAD!!! after 2yrs of not even heavy use. We paid a nice amount for this to profile unit to go with our kitchen remodel. And I must say I'm not happy with this company, I'm about to sell off the rest of appliances which are profiles as well. Just thought it would last as long if not longer than the stupid magic chef we had and that lasted 12yrs!! stay away from this unit. we even had to wait 3 months to get it due to pandemic and now its just DEAD!! Funny how things die just after warranty ends.
