Control pads are so difficult to press.

Control pads are very difficult to press. Left grease vent won’t stay in place from the day it was installed. Very unhappy about these issues.

GE MICROWAVES HORRIBLE!!!

I have this model microwave. This is my 5-6 GE Profile microwaves in the last 20 years, I’ve lost count of how many I’ve had to replace and have repaired. Why do I keep buying them? I want all the same brand appliances. This one recently stopped working. If repair is unreasonable, I will switch brands. I am so STRESSED over GE microwaves.

Better than previous version

We had the previous version of this model for four years until a family member opened the door while it was operating and blew the fuse. It was too expensive to remove and dismantle to replace the fuse (drawback of having this design where access to the fuse is via the top), but GE offered a very good incentive to purchase the same model and install it for free. This model is 1 1/2 inches shorter in height, so where our tile backsplash had ended, there is now a view of wallboard. But, the microwave finally has a fan that seems to draw out steam and odors from the cooktop, and the previously annoying filter that popped open when the fan was on is gone. Materials seem to be less robust than the previous model, with seemingly thinner plastic, but I don't think it will be a problem. The light is now a single centered bulb instead of the previous design of one light on each side, and the bulb is not that bright. I will probably change it to a LED. I still wish that an internal light existed.

GREAT FEATURES

We had to replace our GE microwave that we had for 20 years. We purchased this because it has similar options and look. PRO: *More powerful and 4 vent options. This is amazing and when we cooked fish in the house there was no fishy smell! *Larger cubic inches *Easier door opening *All the Settings and preprogrammed buttons are very useful. *6 auto 1 push time options from 30sec to 1-5 min CON: * Inside light is not bright. My old model was white so it wasn't easy to see inside, but the dark interior and dim light makes it hard to see. I am currently looking for an LED replacement. * The exterior light is also rather dim. Would like to have a brighter LED light for there as well.
The light is the only reason this is getting a 4 star review. Otherwise, a 5 Star

Quality has gone DOWNHILL on same model

Our GE mic( that was the same model number) broke after only 3 1/2 years. We attempted to have it repaired, but too many parts needed to be changed. We finally ordered the same mic(same model number). It was NOT the same microwave. It was an inch shorter and thus we had to put a new bracket on and screw more holes into our backsplash. It also makes a clicking sound right after you push start and right after it beeps. We had a GE appliance person come to look at that issue and they said that GE put a beefier switch on it and that is why it makes the noise. Needless to say, it is annoying. The fan is super loud also and starts on the highest setting right off the bat. Lastly, the place where you put your hand to open it has a sharper edge(not rounded like the last one). I would not buy this mic again and when we replace these appliances, we'll be looking at other companies with higher quality.
