Great Looks

I have always had GE microwaves and this by far is the best looking. Having the controls at the bottom is much nicer looking than having the controls on the right side, but it comes at a bit of a cost. This microwave has the same width as all the other 29 inchers but with the controls on the bottom of the door, the door has to be wider, so the swing circle of the door is wider and takes getting used to. In spite of a wider door, the cooking area is the same as the units with the same width with the controls on the right side, so once the door is open, food gets put in to your left rather than straight ahead.
But I’ll take all the need for adjustment in operation for the way it looks.
Ok now on to feature and function. While my 5year old GE Microwave would let me have the microwave heating going and also set a timer but only showed what was going on with one function. This one’s display shows that two things are going on concurrently and lets me switch the display between timer and cooking time remaining and back and let me stop or pause either one.
Sensor cooking is different than the last one. This one seems to want to warm things longer than my previous one so I have to halt it manually to avoid overcooking.
My last microwave had two light bulbs for the surface light. This one has one only one bulb and isn’t as bright. I wonder if I can put in a brighter bulb but haven’t experimented.
This microwave is a low volume product so the design is not as refined as the higher volume units. The plastic on the right hand bottom corner of the inside of the door comes to a sharp point which could scratch a small person who grabbed the lower corner when they opened the door, so I took a metal nail file and rounded the corner and in seconds the problem was solved.
Others have complained about the push buttons being hard to use. Occasionally having to push a button a couple of times is annoying but tolerable.
Ok, so in spite of all the criticisms, I love the look and I would buy it again because it looks great with my Monogram oven, Wolf induction cooktop and Subzero and I look at far more minutes each day than I use out.

Great replacement

This microwave far exceeds what we were hoping for. This microwave replaced an existing GE microwave that was 14 years old and finally gave out. Here’s hoping for another 14+ on this one!
I would recommend this to a friend!
