Awesome Machine

My wife up graded my machine to the new epson 1040 for my christmas gift this year. WOW. This has the most amazing picture and clarity that I have ever seen. I would highly recommend this machine to everyone. You will not be disappointed.

Great picture, bad speaker, no audio output

Have had for a couple months now. Have it ceiling mounted and am using it to watch shows and movies as our main "tv" on 100" wide screen. The picture is of great quality. I read reviews that the speaker was not the best, but I didn't expect the rattling sound which becomes noticeable to begin at volume level 6 of 10. I planned on getting external speakers anyways, but the no audio output makes that a bit more challenging than plug and play. I knew that as well and went with this one for the price point, which is fantastic for the picture quality, thinking the built in speaker would be fine for now. Low volume works in a quiet setting, but during an event with other noise it's a compromise between audibility and rattle sound. 4 star review because I knew the downfalls before purchasing and this product is what I expected. Just trying to make sure others are aware too.

The Powerful PowerLite Product

To start with the 1040 replaced an Epson PowerLite 705HD, which served me flawlessly for nearly five years. Though the 1040 is used in a very light controlled environment, it projects against an acoustically transparent screen. Even though, it renders very bright, lifelike images. In addition to the improved resolution, the dynamic range of the contrast ratio definitely contributes to the excellent image quality. The black level does not appear to be a great improvement but the auto iris does make a difference. Though the auto iris operation is noticeable the sound level is lower than the 705HD. The built-in speaker could be better but it makes no difference to me since I use a separate audio system. I've only been using the 1040 for about week so I really have not had enough opportunity to get familiar with all the menu functions. However, what I've seen so far is very good!

It made for a great outdoor movie family night. great picture quality with almost no digitization of the picture. close up video of water or smoke shows some digitization of picture but very, very little.

Great projector

For the price it can't be beat. I hooked it to my DVD player and a small sound bar. We use it on an outdoor screen. Grandkids and friends love outdoor movies.

The Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1040 1080p Projector is awesome. The colors look amazing. The brightness of image is so good, that I set it to eco mode to double life of bulb to 10,000 hrs. The sharpness of image is great too. I have a 4k tv and 4k content on this projector looks very good as well. Highly recommended and great value.
